Millie’s is one of the buffet restaurants in Batangas that has modern but sensible ambience. Its buffet breakfast and lunch are always presented in style and cooked with sophistication. Other than Filipino cuisine, the food repertoire is a feast of international cuisine—Asian Mediterranean, European, and American.

Its four-main course lunch always comes with meat carving specialties—US beef brisket on Mondays; lechon kawali on Tuesdays; roast pork belly on Wednesdays; roast pork loin on Thursdays; and porchetta casalinga on Fridays. Its humus and baba ganoush are must-trys. Breakfast at Millie’s is a three-main course cooked to perfection. Longganisa, ham, corned beef, and scrambled eggs are among the mainstays.

Named after the owner’s mother, Rosalinda’s Kitchen serves no-frills but satisfying breakfast with three main courses that come with soup, bread, cereals, and desserts. NDN Hotel’s in-house restaurant offers substitute food or even the same food (say, egg) cooked upon the customer’s request in case the customers come in late and it’s still breakfast time (after 10:00 AM, but before 12 noon). Rosalinda’s lunch is seasonal. But given its affordable price, the food is of best quality, especially its lechon kawali and pork spare ribs.


Price Range: Php199 (net) for breakfast with refillable coffee or juice. Available every day (6 AM – 10 AM). Php249 (net) for lunch with refillable drink (11:30 AM to 2:00 PM but seasonal).

Buffet Avenue’s ambience is about fun and being easy. Just over a year old, Buffet Avenue offers lunch and dinner that serve a five-to-six main course for open buffet with desserts, appetizer, and soup.

It also offers a 10-course buffet ala carte (with desserts, appetizer, and soup) for reserved occasions (with minimum of 80 guests). Buffet ala carte menu can be bespoke (customized) based on the diners’ preference. Dinner at Buffet Ave is made extra special as it features bands with different genre every night. Must-trys in their menu are veggie tempura, crispy tofu, and pork teriyaki. Local specialties like crispy tawilis and sinaing na tulingan are also tops.

Cabalen

Tried and tested but not yet passé, Cabalen needs no further introduction. This restaurant of almost three decades still holds a soft place in the hearts of many Filipinos, especially to the balikbayan. It still serves good old specialties that most Filipinos have come to love like kare-kare, crispy crablets, bulalo, morcon, ginataang kuhol, sisig, kaldereta, beringhe, grilled hito with burong hipon, sinigang na bangus in santol, and tibok-tibok.

The list could go on as customers have more than 50 dishes to choose from. Yes, the tradition of good food lives on and to the delight of the Batangueños, Cabalen decided to open a branch in SM City Lipa last May 2015. Unlike other branches, Cabalen SM City Lipa serves Filipino cuisine only.

Buffet dining doesn’t have to come with a hefty price tag as Casa del Barrio, like Buffet Avenue, has made eat-all-you-can experience within everyone’s reach. As the name suggests, the place has a native feel and offers simple but tasty food prepared in a no-nonsense style.

Casa del Barrio just turned one year old last November 2015. It serves six different courses during lunch and dinner every day of the week with kare-kare, spicy squid calamares, and buttered tahong as staples. It’s definitely a value-for-money buffet dining experience. Buffet dinner is served until 9 PM, but it is best to dine early because come 8 PM, the dishes are no longer refilled once they are consumed.

Price Range: Php199 (net) including drink for lunch (10 AM to 3 PM.) and dinner every day (6 PM to 9 PM)
