Tried and tested but not yet passé, Cabalen needs no further introduction. This restaurant of almost three decades still holds a soft place in the hearts of many Filipinos, especially to the balikbayan. It still serves good old specialties that most Filipinos have come to love like kare-kare, crispy crablets, bulalo, morcon, ginataang kuhol, sisig, kaldereta, beringhe, grilled hito with burong hipon, sinigang na bangus in santol, and tibok-tibok.

Casa del Barrio
Tambo, Lipa City, Batangas

Buffet dining doesn’t have to come with a hefty price tag as Casa del Barrio, like Buffet Avenue, has made eat-all-you-can experience within everyone’s reach. As the name suggests, the place has a native feel and offers simple but tasty food prepared in a no-nonsense style.
Casa del Barrio just turned one year old last November 2015. It serves six different courses during lunch and dinner every day of the week with kare-kare, spicy squid calamares, and buttered tahong as staples. It’s definitely a value-for-money buffet dining experience. Buffet dinner is served until 9 PM, but it is best to dine early because come 8 PM, the dishes are no longer refilled once they are consumed.
