This Week in Central Luzon (November 28 to December 4, 2020)

Clark International Airport released a list of travel essentials for passengers under the new normal. Starting November 28, besides needed travel documents, all airport users will be required to use Traze, a mobile application used by the government for contact tracing purposes. Once the app is downloaded, passengers no longer need to fill out contact tracing forms. It will also notify the user if he or she came in contact with a COVID-19-positive patient. Starting January 1, 2021, both domestic and international passenger terminal fees will be integrated in the cost of airline tickets as per the announcement of the Luzon International Premier Airport Development or LIPAD. LIPAD Chief Executive Officer Bi Yong Chungonco said that integrating the terminal fees has been one of Clark International Airport’s priorities. This is to help make the flights of passengers as hassle-free and seamless as possible.

Seventeen different airlines signed a Memorandum of Agreement with LIPAD, showing their agreement with the integration of the terminal fees. Passengers who will be purchasing tickets starting January 1, 2021 will no longer have to pay for their terminal fee at the airport. Those who have purchased tickets before the given date, however, must still pay terminal fees over the terminal counters. Infants below 2 years are exempted from terminal fees for both domestic and international flights, and OFWs for international flights. [3]

Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority Chairman and President Wilma Eisma has announced that SBMA now has zero active cases among its employees, guests, and transient workers, and only one remaining active case among the residents of Subic Bay Freeport Zone. Eisma continued to thank Subic Bay’s frontliners and stakeholders for ensuring the health and safety of all its residents. SBMA recorded a total of 38 cases since July 13, 2020, and now, they’re down to one as of November 19, 2020. [4]
