If you want to learn how to drive but don't have time for a physical driving school, here's some good news: there's an online course available for your theoretical driving lessons. Yes, you heard that right! The Land Transportation Office (LTO) has begun implementing an online platform for the Theoretical Driving Course (TDC).

However, unlike the in-person TDCs offered by the LTO at its branches nationwide, the online TDC is not offered by the agency itself. Instead, you can choose from LTO-accredited driving schools operating online TDC.

What is a Theoretical Driving Course (TDC)

The TDC is a fundamental requirement for obtaining a Student Permit, which is necessary for acquiring a driver’s license from the LTO. The applicant must complete a 15-hour TDC and pass the exam to obtain a TDC Certificate.

Steps to Apply for Online TDC (OTDC)

To take the first step toward applying for OTDC, follow this process:

Step 1: Access the LTO website (https://lto.gov.ph/) and select a driving school to enroll in the OTDC.
Step 2: You’ll be directed to the driving school’s website.
Step 3: Register and complete the application form.
Step 4: Pay the application fee online through the given payment options.
Step 5: You’ll be given access to or a link to the OTDC provider.
Step 6: The OTDC will be divided into modules. After each module is completed, a quiz will be given. You must obtain a passing score of at least 80% before proceeding to the next module.
Step 7: After you complete all the modules, the driving school will email you a certificate of completion.
Step 8: You’ll proceed to the driving school, where you'll enroll for the final validation examination.
Step 9: Upon successfully passing the validation examination, you’ll receive an OTDC certificate.

And there you go; after receiving the OTDC Certificate, it’s time to apply for a Student Driver’s Permit at LTO and begin learning to drive!
