Take Note: EDSA-Kamuning Flyover Will Be Partially Closed For 11 Months Starting April 25

Starting April 25, 2024, the southbound lane of the EDSA-Kamuning flyover in Quezon City will be partially closed for up to 11 months. This crucial step, mandated by the government, aims to fortify the bridge and enhance its structural integrity in anticipation of a potential earthquake, commonly called the 'Big One.' This decision was made following a thorough evaluation of the bridge's condition, which underscored the need for reinforcement to ensure its safety in the face of a natural calamity.

The forthcoming retrofitting project at the EDSA-Kamuning flyover will necessitate using one-and-a-half lanes, starting from the outermost lane and progressing towards the EDSA Busway Lane. This implies that the affected lanes will be temporarily inaccessible to vehicles. However, as per the Department of Public Works and Highways, EDSA Busway operations will continue without interruption, providing a reliable transportation option for commuters.

The partial road closure will cause some delays and traffic congestion in the area, so it is recommended to plan alternative routes or allow extra time for travel. Motorists can take the Mabuhay lanes as alternate routes while the project is ongoing. Moreover, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) will implement essential traffic management measures to ensure a smooth flow of vehicles during this time.
