Now that the vaccination rollout has been ongoing, the government is finding ways to provide safer and more convenient ways for Filipinos can get their vaccination against COVID-19. One method that has been approved and encouraged by the Department of Health is drive-by vaccination. These drive-through vaccination sites prevent overcrowding so that it’s preferable for those who are hesitant to visit vaccination hubs.

In collaboration with Ayala Malls Circuit, Makati City began its drive-through vaccination last May 7 at Circuit Makati. It accommodates seniors, persons with disabilities, and bedridden individuals. The local government aims to provide a more favorable inoculation option for persons with disabilities (PWDs) and bedridden residents.

The dry run vaccinated around 100 persons of the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. The local government unit (LGU) will arrange a service vehicle for those who do not have one, given that they want to avail the drive-through vaccination service. The service vehicle is on an appointment basis. Vaccine recipients will be undergoing screening, monitoring, and counseling without leaving their cars.

Drive-thru vaccination sites plan to place in public parks like Quezon City Memorial Circle in Quezon City and Luneta Park in Manila. Other options are public buildings like the Batasan compound, the National Housing Authority complex, and the Quezon City Hall parking building.

Robinsons Malls is also planning to launch drive-through sites in Metro Manila.
