Feng shui also prescribes which items should be placed in every direction of the house. In the west corner, align your home with the element of the year by putting metal-colored items. Keep green and blue plants away from the north corner. If you have plants, it is advisable that you put these in the south corner, together with wood carvings and clay sculptures. Avoid placing potted plants in the east corner; place aquatic ones instead. To keep your family safe and protected, do not stack sharp objects like knives or scissors in the center area of your house. If your front door, bedroom door, or kitchen door is located in the east, you can put a gray or white rug to avoid imbalance.
If rearranging or redecorating seems impossible, you can always opt for a salt cure. All you need is a bowl, six Chinese coins, and water. Fill your bowl with salt and place the Chinese coins on top of it, with the Yang side (the side with the four Chinese characters) facing up. Finally, fill the container with water to the top. Salt can absorb sha chi, so it is advisable to place the salt cure in the four corners of your home.
