City improvements are the main focus in Metro Manila this week. For instance, the Department of Transportation (DOTr) has issued 15 units of modern jeepneys which will be operational around Makati, Pasay, and Paranaque. Meanwhile, Pasig City now prohibits the use of electronic cigarettes (e-cigarettes) in public spaces. Down south, the Paranaque local government has prohibited vendors outside Baclaran Church this upcoming holiday season.

Weather: Varied from sunny to rainy

Expect constantly changing weather in Metro Manila this week that can go from sunny to rainy. If you’re travelling around Metro Manila this week, be ready for the unpredictable weather by bringing an umbrella and other rainproof items. The day temperature will range between 30 °C to 32 °C [1].

Traffic News: DOTr turns over modern PUV jeepneys

The Department of Transportation (DOTr) turned over 15 units of the modern jeepneys to transport group Pasang Masda. The new jeepneys are part of the public utility vehicle modernization program of the government. The new jeepney units will be operational around Nichols-Magallanes-Mall of Asia-PITX and vice versa.

Travel Updates

Pasig City bans vaping in public spaces

E-cigarettes such as vapes are now prohibited in public places in Pasig City. The Pasig City government issued ordinance 6061 which prohibits the use of e-cigarettes in public spaces such as hospitals, educational and recreational facilities, and government offices. Violators will be fined a minimum of PhP2,000 or 12 hours of community service for the first offense. The ordinance also prohibits selling vapes to minors [3].

No Baclaran tiangge this year

Bad news for regular visitors of the Baclaran tiangge (bazaar): there would be no flea market this year. The local government of Paranaque City stated that they will not allow vendors along Roxas Boulevard service road this holiday season to lessen traffic around the area. This ban will affect over 2,000 vendors [4].
