Good news for students: the semestral break starts this week, and fine weather that is mostly sunny and cloudy will accompany it. Students on break also mean fewer passengers and commuters on the road, so traffic might be lighter. The Light Rail Transit-2 has also adjusted its operating hours, making them earlier. Meanwhile, Isetann Cinerama at Recto reopened after being shut down by the local government. In other news, customers of the Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI) have to adjust as the bank will shut down services on October 19 for a system upgrade. Weather: Sunny to cloudy weather

For students and tourists planning to go on trips this week, the weather will be in your favor. According to the forecast, weather conditions are expected to be sunny and cloudy. The day temperature will range from 32 to 33 °C [1]. Apply sunscreen on your face and body if you’re planning to stay under the sun for a long time. Bring an umbrella for additional protection from UV rays.

Traffic News: Earlier trips for the LRT-2

The Light Rail Transit Authority (LRT-A) made the first trip earlier for the partial operation of the LRT-2. The trips from Cubao Station to Recto Station would now start at 5:00 AM, while the last trip from Cubao and Recto would be at 8:30 PM and 9:00 PM, respectively [2].

Travel Updates

Semestral break for students begins

Public school students will be having their semestral break from October 21 to 25, and classes will resume on October 28 [3]. As students would not go to school during this time, the number of commuters on the road will be reduced.

Isetann Cinerama reopens

After the Manila city government closed down Isetann Mall at Recto, the mall reopened to the public last October 11 after paying PhP2 million in taxes and securing a proper business permit from the city hall [4]. The mall was closed down by Manila mayor Isko Moreno on October 9.

BPI closed for upgrade on October 19

Operations of the Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI) will be temporarily unavailable on October 19 due to a scheduled system upgrade. From 12:01AM to 11:59PM, BPI online banking, mobile app, and debit card services will be temporarily unavailable. ATM machines, BizLink, and ELink platforms will not be accessible, too. However, credit card and prepaid card services will be accessible [5].
