Weather this week is predicted to be generally rainy and wet, so expect less sunshine in Metro Manila during the day. Along with expected thunderstorms, the temperature for the entire week is anticipated to range between 30 to 31°C [1].

Roads during rainy days are expected to be slippery and accident-prone, so motorists are advised to be more cautious when driving. Flight cancellations are also expected to be frequent during heavy downpours. Check the social media pages and website of airlines for updates on flight cancellations. During the rainy season, people are also more exposed to health risks such as leptospirosis and dengue—especially those living in flood-prone areas. Make sure to avoid exposing yourself to floodwater, especially if you have wounds on your feet and to put on insect repellents.

Several “priority roads” in Quezon City have been cleared from obstruction. Some of these roads are Culiat in Old Balara, Quirino Highway, Susana Road, and General Luis Street [2]. This comes as a result of the local government’s program to get rid of illegal vendors along several roads in Metro Manila. The clearing operation ensures roads will be more accessible to commuters and residents. About 60 to 70 percent of the priority roads have been cleared.

The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) reminds motorists that ‘one-side’ parking is not allowed if there’s no ordinance involved. Previously, several areas in Quezon City such as Barangay Bagong Lipunan and inner roads along Camp Crame allowed one-side parking, but the MMDA cleared that it is generally not allowed, especially now that clearing operations are being made in Metro Manila [3].
