Makati might be one of the busiest cities in the country, but Lampara in Poblacion provides a breather in the fast-paced scene. Filled with classy wooden furniture, this retro space is a cozy hangout spot for those on the hunt for something new. With their elevated take on Filipino cuisine, Lampara is not your ordinary restaurant.
Some of the menu items to try are the ensalada (PhP180), a salad with frisee lettuce, salted egg, and eggplant, and the dinuckdukan (PhP360), which consists of diced duck with mayo and egg floss. To heat things up after your meal, grab a drink or two at the restaurant’s bar. Some of the signature cocktails to try are Gasera ni Simoun (rum with grapefruit and rosemary) and Gayuma ni Albano (tequila with guyabano and campari), for PhP380 and PhP350, respectively.
How to get there: Ride the MRT to Ayala Station. Exit the station and ride a bus with the “Ayala-Washington” signage. Ask the driver to drop you off at the Ayala Avenue Intersection and ride another bus, this time with a “Guadalupe Ibabaw – Ayala” signage. Get off at Makati Ave - Guerrero. From there, walk along Guerrero in the direction opposite A. Venue Mall. Turn right when you reach P. Burgos, then walk a block until you get to General Luna. Cross the road and walk along General Luna. On the corner of Felipe (where you will see Jumong Korea), turn right. Walk a block until you see Minantors Korean Grocery, as this marks Enriquez Street. Turn left here and walk 76 meters to get to Lampara.
2. Q House

When sisters Zerline, Jenilee, and Kim Chan thought of combining their novelties store, Quirks Novelties and Curiosities, with dining, they ended up with Q House. Located at the fourth level of Uptown Mall, this new spot lets its customers shop and dine in just one venue.
After checking out the unique items at the gift shop, chill out and munch on savory treats such as Qizzas (PhP PhP105 to PhP215, depending on flavor), the restaurant’s version of pizza. For something sweet and indulgent, Q House’s all day cafe has a wide selection of refreshing drinks that caters to both health-conscious folks and those on their cheat days. Beverages to try are the Cookie Monster (cookie butter and chocolate chip cookies with graham bits) for PhP195 and Give Me a Kale (combination of kale, banana, and mango) for PhP175.
How to get there: Ride the MRT to Guadalupe Station. Take the north exit and enter the Guadalupe Commercial Complex connected to the station. Inside the complex, exit at P. Burgos on the ground floor (adjacent to Chowking). Once you reach P. Burgos, walk towards Jollibee. Ride a jeepney with a “Market Market” or “AFP/PNP Housing” or “Bonifacio Global City” signage. Pay the minimum fare and ask the driver to drop you off at Uptown Mall. Q House is on the fourth floor.
3. Katherine’s Cafe
Where: Second floor, Glorietta 3, Ayala Center, Glorietta Complex, Makati City

There’s no place like home, which is why Katherine’s Cafe makes sure that each customer will feel at home through their meals. Fueled with nostalgia and warmth, the place can be the go-to spot of anyone who misses the comfort of his or her own abode. With their all-day dining menu, you can take your pick from a fine selection of classic Filipino dishes such as Vigan longganisa (sweet sausage) for PhP328 and chicken and pork adobo for PhP288.
If you’re a breakfast person, all-time favorites such as pancakes, omelets, and stuffed French toast are available at the cafe all day. Healthier meal options such as salads are also on the menu for vegans. For cold rainy days, take a sip of hearty soups like clam chowder (PhP198), mushroom cappuccino (PhP188), and grilled chicken and corn soup (PhP168).
How to get there: Ride MRT to Ayala Station. Exit on the southbound side and enter SM. Glorietta is connected to this mall through a footbridge, so walk straight ahead until you spot a sign indicating that you’re in Glorietta. Katherine’s Cafe is on the third floor.
4. Medley Modern Mediterranean

Medley Modern Mediterranean is not your ordinary fast food restaurant. Unlike several fast food chains, Medley offers healthy and fresh food fit for people on the go. So if you don’t want to hang around, you can grab one of Medley’s home-style meals and eat them in the comfort of your home. But if you have spare time, there are few outdoor tables in the restaurant for quick bites.
Several dishes that you can try from Medley’s Modern Mediterranean menu include the falafel crunch (PhP329 with hummus and pita, PhP249 with mediterranaean rice) and the Levantine chicken sandwich (PhP199 with pita, PhP269 with laffa).
How to get there: Ride MRT to Ayala Station. Exit the station on the northbound side. From there, you will find a BGC Bus terminal. Buy a ticket to the bus heading to Market! Market!. The fare is PhP12. Get off at BGC High Street across Fully Booked. This is where you’ll find the restaurant.
5. One Pot Chinese Hot Pot
Where: Shore Residences, Seaside Boulevard, Mall of Asia Complex (MOA), Pasay City
Operating hours: Monday to Saturday, 5:00 PM to 3:00 AM; Sunday, 12:00 PM to 3:00AM

What goes best with cold weather? Something hot to warm you up, of course—something like One Pot Chinese Hot Pot’s offerings. Home to Manila’s longest beef platter, the restaurant is a must-try for every hot pot addict. If the 8 different types of beef, 9 meatballs, 31 different vegetables, and 8 types of noodles are not enough to get you hooked, you should see the rest of the menu.
One Pot Chinese Hot Pot is not a buffet, but you can choose the toppings and soup base that goes with your hot pot. Soup bases are priced at PhP588, while meatballs range from PhP198 to PhP258 per order. If you love seafood, indulge yourself with the seafood platter (PhP1,888) which includes shrimp, scallops, oysters, clams, and crabs.
How to get there: Ride the MRT to Taft Avenue Station. Exit the station and ride a jeepney heading to SM Mall of Asia. Ask the driver to drop you off at Alfamart Shell Residences. From there, walk straight ahead to the street beside the Alfamart. Shore Residences is about a 15 to 30-minute walk. One Pot is within the residences’ complex.
