Watch out for flight cancellations due to bad weather.

Metro Manila ’s gloomy weather is expected to affect the overall travel experience in the city. The rains could affect plans of outdoor activities and sightseeing; flights and other modes of transportation could also be affected by thunderstorms. In the past few weeks, thunderstorms have caused flight cancellations and delays in the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA).

Meanwhile, the main intersection along EDSA and Shaw Boulevard will be closed due to repair work. Lastly, heavier traffic flow could occur in several roads in Metro Manila that are prone to flooding. Despite the bad weather and traffic, those in Pasig have reason to celebrate this week, as Pasig Day will be celebrated on July 2. This means that work and classes are suspended on that day. Weather: Frequent thunderstorms are expected over Manila

The rainy season will come in full force as thunderstorms will be more frequent this week. A thunderstorm or two are forecast to occur on Sunday, Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday. The week’s temperature is also significantly lower compared to the previous weeks, with the expected day temperature ranging from 29 °C to 31 °C. During the night, it will be colder with a temperature range of 25 °C to 27 °C [1].

EDSA-Shaw intersection to be closed on June 28 to 30

The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) announced that the main intersection along EDSA corner Shaw Boulevard will be closed on June 28 to 30 due to the repair of a defective mainline butterfly valve. The repair work will give way to better water supply availability in the area [2]. For frequent travelers who pass by the area, find an alternate route that could get you to your destination.

Expect heavier traffic flow in flood-prone areas

Some major parts of Manila that are flood-prone, such as Pasig and Quezon City, are expected to have heavier traffic flow during rainy days. Monitor MMDA’s social media pages for announcements regarding impassable roads and for the volume of vehicles in the area [3].
