Metro Manila, travel, things to do, holy week, easter

Black Saturday and Easter Sunday will occur this week.

The Lenten season ends this weekend with Black Saturday on the 20th and Easter Sunday on the 21st. In anticipation of an influx of travelers going in and out of the city this Holy Week, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) has suspended the number coding scheme in Metro Manila. Along with the temporary lifting of the coding system, there would also be road closures in selected areas in Pasig and Makati. For the full details, read on.

Weather: Sunny and warm weather in Metro Manila

It will remain humid and dry in the city for the whole week, with temperatures ranging from 34 °C to 37 °C [1]. To survive the heat, make sure to wear breathable clothing made from light materials. Bring an umbrella and water when heading outside to prevent heatstroke and dehydration. Continue to monitor the weather situation in Metro Manila by watching the news.

Traffic News

Number coding suspended

With the shutdown of the MRT and LRT trains this Holy Week, which make it harder to commute within Metro Manila, the roads are expected to be congested. To alleviate the heavy traffic, the MMDA announced that they are suspending the number coding scheme until April 22, 2019. This means that those returning to the city after the long weekend can use their vehicles without worry of being apprehended under the number coding scheme [2].
