New e-jeeps will ply Makati to Mandaluyong route
DOTr and LTFRB has launched the “e-sakay” program in which 15 units of e-jeeps will ply a route from Makati to Mandaluyong. The e-jeeps will use the Buendia MRT to Mandaluyong City Hall via Jupiter Street route. Besides being environment friendly, the bus also features CCTV cameras, WiFi connection, GPS, and USB charging ports. Despite all the amenities, the basic fare would be at PhP9 and will be collected via an automated fare collection system [2].
Rerouting scheme implemented in Makati City
To alleviate the traffic that is expected around Makati and Mandaluyong over the closure of the Estrella-Pantaleon Bridge, the Makati City Government implements a new route. The rerouting scheme will be implemented along Ayala Avenue and Sen. Gil J. Puyat Avenue.
Under the rerouting, the entire stretch of Makati Avenue from J.P Rizal Avenue up to Sen. Gil Puyat will be a one-way street. Those who will be heading towards the Makati-Mandaluyong Bridge must take a right turn to P. Burgos Street and get to the J.P Rizal Avenue and Makati Avenue intersection then take another right turn to get to the bridge. Meanwhile, those who turn left along Sen. Gil Puyat en route to Salcedo Village are advised to take the Zuellig Loop. Anyone going to the Central Business District from Makati-Mandaluyong Bridge can take a right turn to J.P Rizal Avenue, then left to N. Garcia Street, then right to Sen. Gil Puyat Avenue, and left turn at Ayala Avenue [3].
