The city prepares for All Saints’ Day and All Souls Day 2018.

All Saints’ Day and All Souls Day are both public holidays in the Philippines and are celebrated all over the country.
Metro Manila will be busy this week as Filipinos celebrate All Saints’ Day and All Souls Day on November 1 and 2. During these days, families flock to cemeteries to visit their departed loved ones. Because these are two of the major national holidays in the country, the government is preparing for the safety of the people who would be flocking to major transportation areas such as roads and airports. These efforts cannot affect the weather though, and rain is expected on both holidays.
Weather: Sunny to rainy weather for the whole week
It would be pleasantly sunny on most parts of the week particularly from the 27th to the 31st. However, those who will head to the cemetery on All Saints’ Day and All Souls Day should be ready with an umbrella and other rain protective gears as it is forecasted to be rainy on these dates. Bring a sweater as well to combat the cold wind. The temperature for the week would range from 31 to 34 °C. Continue to monitor the news for updates on the weather.
Traffic News
Number coding expected to be lifted for All Saints’ Day
No official announcement has been made yet, but based on trends from past years, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) is expected to lift the number coding in Metro Manila to let all motorists use their vehicles as they head to cemeteries. The scheme is usually lifted from October 31 to November 1 [1].
MRT and LRT operating hours unaffected by holidays
In other transportation¬-related news, the Metro Rail Transit (MRT) and Light Rail Transit (LRT) will have normal operations during the holiday. For safety, security will be tightened at the stations upon checking at the entrance [2].
MMDA ready with Oplan Undas 2018
The MMDA will also conduct Oplan Undas 2018, meaning that more than 2,000 traffic personnel will be deployed along traffic-prone areas from morning until evening to ensure that the traffic flow will remain smooth [3].

Airline news
The Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) stated that they have prepared for the expected influx of passengers in the airport before and after the celebration of All Saints’ Day and All Souls Day [4].
Part of their preparation includes proper deployment of personnel, especially for emergencies, security, and incidents. Airport facilities such as comfort rooms would also be monitored to make sure that each has enough water supply and is functioning properly. Help desks will also be available for passengers who have problems or inquiries.
Hotel booking status
Hotels near major cemeteries such as the Manila North Cemetery have available rooms for those who will travel all the way from provinces [5].
Shopping Scoop: Mall hours to be adjusted for All Saints’ Day
Major malls in around Manila have yet to announce their adjusted mall hours for All Saints’ Day, but expect that the mall hours will be shortened. The schedule depends on the mall management, so monitor the social media pages of shopping malls for announcements [6].
