Five e-gate machines were installed at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) in an effort to lessen the processing time of travelers to only 8 to 15 seconds compared to the previous 45 seconds.
The machines will enhance the security capability of the Bureau of Immigration (BI) by including features like adding security checks, facial recognition, barcode reader, smart card recognition, and biometric scanning in one system.
Another capability of the machine is that it can accurately pinpoint passengers who are in the watch list or persons of interest in immigration formalities. Additional five units will be installed at the NAIA Terminal 3 and three would be installed in NAIA Terminal 2 [3].
