This week will be a great time to travel around Metro Manila as the skies will be partly sunny for most of the week. In terms of transportation, the Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) has temporarily lifted the ban on provincial buses along EDSA. Meanwhile, two of the country’s major airlines received the highest ratings for safety.

Weather: Partly sunny skies with light thunderstorms in the weekend

The weather will be partly sunny for most of the week but as the weekend approaches, the chances for light thunderstorms will increase. The temperature will remain humid with a range of 31 to 33 °C and the predicted hottest day is on Monday [1]. Bring an umbrella as a protection from the UV rays and possible light showers.

Traffic News: EDSA provincial bus ban temporarily lifted

After a month since its implementation, the ban on provincial buses along EDSA was temporarily abolished by the MMDA and Land Transportation and Franchising Regulatory Board (LTFRB). The decision to halt the ban is due to the unattended requisites of LTFRB to the Interim Bus Terminal in Valenzuela.

According to MMDA General Manager Jojo Garcia, the terminal still needs to comply with the requirements regarding the needs and safety of passengers set by LTFRB. Once the requirements are met, the ban will be implemented again [2].

Travel Updates: Two major airlines receive highest rating for safety

Cebu Pacific and Philippine Airlines both received the highest rating for safety, so air passengers can rest assured that their travels are safe. Both airlines each received a 7-star rating from the world’s only safety and product rating agency, AirlineRatings.com [3]. One of the things the agency looks at is the International Air Transport Association Operation Safety Audit (IOSA) score. The IOSA is a program used to maintain the safety of airlines, and both airlines have completed it with three stars [4].
