As Metro Manila bids farewell to summer and welcomes the rainy season, it seems like it’s time to exchange our beach balls and sundaes for blankets and mugs of hot choco. Our parties under the sun are done, and it’s time to have fun indoors instead.
But who says the fun stops when summer ends? There are still lots of events and expos in Metro Manila this June 2018 to look out for. In this article, Shoppersguide lists down the most much-anticipated events and expos that will surely pique your interest. Each of them caters to different passions and interests, so make sure to read through them all to know which one fits your taste the best!
1. SEA Brew
When: June 20 to 22 (10:00 AM to 8:00 PM on June 20; 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM on June 21; 9:00 AM to 10:00 PM on June 22)

This will be the SEA brew’s fourth year to welcome new and exciting tastes in the brewing industry.

South East Asia’s brewing industry is expected to prosper in the span of five to ten years, and to gauge the progress, it’s important that both small and big brewers and distributors know the latest innovations and the best practices in terms of production and sales.
They look to achieve just this at this year’s SEA Brew Manila 2018 this June 20 to 22. Brewers, distributors, and brewery owners will get to interact to trade tips, novelties, and other newfound insider information about the industry. They will also get the chance to learn more of the craft from multiple workshops, sessions, and panel and roundtable discussions from experts in the field.
How to get to EDSA Shangri-La: Ride the MRT-3 and get off at Shaw Boulevard Station. Exit the station via the northbound side. Shangri-La is just a short distance away from there.
2. 22nd Philippine Academic Book Fair
When: June 20 to 23, 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM
Where: Megatrade Hall 1, 5th Floor, Mega B, SM Megamall, Mandaluyong City
Price: PhP150; PhP50 undergraduate students (with valid school ID)
Teachers, scholars, and academicians will certainly find this book fair a treat.

The biggest names and suppliers in the academic reading industry will once again come together with the 22nd Philippine Academic Book Fair on June 20 to 23. Bookworms, scholars, teachers, professionals, librarians, and reviewers will surely be engrossed with the extensive range of books from big names like Ateneo de Manila University Press, C&E Publishing, F&J De Jesus, Book Trends Enterprises, Aquarian Books and Novelties, and Alexan Commercial, among others.
Attendees will also get to learn a thing or two from the seminars at the book fair, with topics such as “The Future of Education” by Sr. Felicitas Bernardo, SPC, hosted by Booksellers Association of the Philipipnes, and “Ethics of Librarians” by Ms. Elizabeth Peralejo from the Philippine Librarians Assocations Incorporated (PLAI).
As a way to give appreciation to educators, the event will also host Break Time: Teachers’ Appreciation Day on June 23 wherein educators can participate in special activities in personality and health development. Exciting giveaways and raffles also await lucky teachers joining the event.
How to get to SM Megamall: Ride the MRT-3 and get off at Shaw Boulevard Station. Walk along the northbound side towards EDSA Shangri-La and walk straight until you reach SM Megamall.
3. Money Summit & Wealth Expo
When: June 23, 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM
Where: SMX Convention Center, SM Aura Premier, McKinley Parkway, Taguig

This year’s Money Summit & Wealth Expo will feature seven speakers who are experts in investments.

Since 2010, the Money Summit & Wealth Expo has educated over 15,000 retail investors with the help of useful insights from several investment experts in real estate, forex, and stocks. Few of the topics that the expo has tackled through the years include the psychology of investing, building a profitable portfolio, investing in your first rental property, the secrets of successful stock investors, generating consistent trading gains, profiting from foreclosed properties, and getting into cryptocurrencies and bitcoins.
The event is open for entrepreneurs, managers and executives, licensed professionals, freelancers and solopreneurs, retirees and homemakers, college and graduate students, and overseas workers.

4. The Philippine Wedding Summit 2018

Where: The Mind Museum, J.Y. Campos Park, 3rd Avenue, Bonifacio Global City, Taguig

This is what drives the Manila Mini Maker Faire, a gathering of the most creative minds which is happening at The Mind Museum. Creative and innovative people from the field of engineering, science, and the arts will showcase the fruit of their numerous experiments, hobbies, and projects in a two-day interactive fair for both young and old spectators. An example of an innovative idea at the event is a car body made out of abaca (an indigenous light fiber plant). The use of abaca makes the vehicle more energy-efficient, strong, lightweight, and best of all, cheaper. This is just a peek to the kind of mindful innovations that you can see when you attend the maker’s fair.
How to get to The Mind Museum: Take the MRT and get off at Ayala Station. From there, ride a BGC West Route bus and alight at the Net One stop. The Mind Museum is a short walk north from there.
6. Corporate Giveaways 2018
When: June 26 to 28, 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM
Where: SMX Convention Center, SM Mall of Asia, Pasay City
Price: Free
This is the 31st year of the expo, and it continues to provide top-notch business solutions.

The Corporate Giveaways Buyers’ Show is the longest-running and most successful annual trade show dedicated to corporate gifts and business incentives. As always, the event looks to benefit companies’ arms in human resources and administration, public relations and communications, marketing and promotions, sales, events management, advertising, purchasing and supply management, and other business-related jobs.
Therefore, visitors have to take note that most of the items for sale at the event are sold in bulk, and only a few booths sell individual items. Children under the age of 18 are not allowed inside at the event as well.

7. Angat Pinoy Business Expo
When: June 30, 10:00 AM to 9:00 PM
Where: Megatrade Hall 3, 5th Floor, SM Megamall, Mandaluyong City

Supporting local does not mean only supporting major Filipino brands and establishments. There are other small and upcoming local businesses that need just as much appreciation and exposure from us as well. This is the core value of this year’s Angat Pinoy Business Expo. The event will serve as a venue for entrepreneurs to get their budding businesses out in the open, as it is expected to attract hundreds of visitors to SM Megamall. The two-day event will not only enable enterprises to sell and promote their products, but also be in-the-know about the latest trends and marketing strategies in the Philippines’ growing economy.
Industry leaders, marketing, business, economics and leadership experts, and successful entrepreneurs will also conduct talks to uplift and educate Filipino companies. To help further, there will also be product pitching and leadership trainings at the event.

- Check first if the event fits in your schedule. Some expos run for consecutive days, so choose the best date to attend.
- To avoid being scammed, purchase a ticket only from official sellers, and steer clear of third-party sellers.
- If you want to pay less, check if the event has early bird promos that have discounted admission tickets.
- Follow the social media pages of the event organizer to be updated on any important updates and last-minute changes such as venue changes, time adjustments, and cancellations.
- Check the rules and restrictions of the event and of the venue. Check what is allowed and what is not. Follow the dress code if there’s any.
- If you’re planning to bring kids, check first if the event allows children.
- If driving, use navigating apps such as Waze to guide you until you reach the destination. Adjust travel time by an extra hour to anticipate Metro Manila’s unpredictable traffic.
- Keep an eye on your personal belongings while at the venue.
