Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, but if you’re in the corporate world, finding a good place to eat so early in the morning is not an easy task. You’ll either have to settle for the usual fast food chains or 24/7 convenience stores.
But if you live in Makati, arguably the corporate heart of the metro, it might not be as hard to figure out where to eat breakfast. Whether you’re a morning person or you just happen to be in the city as early as 7:00 AM, here are good breakfast places in Makati to fill your morning hunger.
1. Soma Bistro

Operating hours: Monday and Tuesday, 6:00 AM to 10:00 PM; Wednesday to Friday, 6:00 AM to 11:00 PM; Weekends, 6:00 AM to 9:00 PM

We usually visit fine dining restaurants at night to enjoy their intimate atmosphere, dine with our significant other, perhaps even while sipping a glass of wine. But when you’re in Makati, there’s no need to wait until dark, because Soma Bistro at Green Sun Hotel is open as early as 6:00 AM, and they have all the makings of a luxurious, fine dining restaurant.
Although Soma Bistro is known for their Papel de Liempo (PhP220) and Bistro Burger (PhP350), they also offer all-day breakfast treats such as Bangsilog (PhP260), a dish that consists of marinated milkfish deep-fried to perfection, paired with egg and fried rice.
2. Cartel Deli

Cartel Deli might look like a speakeasy bar from the outside, but it’s actually a deli and a café where you can get your first bite in the morning. They sell a variety of goods, coffee, and well-curated meals that are a mix of Western and Spanish selections.
For early risers, make a quick stop at Cartel Deli and try their Roast Beef Sandwich (PhP310). The beef is roasted in-house and layered with lots of cheese and roasted bell peppers for that extra kick. You can also grab Salcedo Swing, a cup of coffee from Yardstick Coffee, which especially tastes great with Cartel Deli’s selections.
3. Crepe Amelie

You’re always in for an elegant Parisian escape and breakfast at Crepe Amelie.

Crepe Amelie can set your whole day to a good tune, whether it’s a working weekday or a laid-back weekend. Step inside and the interiors of the café will make you feel like you’re in a Parisian escape. Their menu consists of all-day breakfast meals as well as a sumptuous pasta selection, but it’s their crepes that always get all the attention.
If you want to try their crepes, then their Crepe Madame (PhP200) is your best bet. It is a light toasted crepe topped with poached egg, ham, tomato, and onion, a guaranteed unique morning treat that will fuel you for the entire day.
4. 101 Hawker Food House

Singapore is known to be the most expensive city in the world, but if you want to indulge in the Singaporean experience without having to break the bank, you can opt to start your day at 101 Hawker Food House. The man behind 101 Hawker Food House used to work as a chef at Hyatt Hotel Singapore, so you know you’re getting nothing less than the real deal.
If you’re craving for something to warm your stomach in the cold mornings, try their Singapore Laksa (PhP140). It is made with rice noodles and various seafood swimming in a hot broth of coconut curry and homemade laksa paste. What a better way to start your day?
5. Petra & Pilar

If you prefer a familiar food spot in Makati, then you’d be happy to know that Petra & Pilar also caters to early birds. A staple along Chino Roces Avenue, this chic restaurant serves a mix of Filipino and Spanish cuisine.
Although their Barkada Boodle (PhP999) is one of the things that made them famous, they also have lighter fares to fill you in the morning. Their Cagayan Longganisa with Rice and Egg (PhP160) is a great classic breakfast to start the day, or a nice treat after a crazy drinking session with your buddies.
6. Earle's Delicatessen

Operating hours: Monday to Sunday, 7:00 AM to 9:00 PM
Enjoy a wide array of sausage and deli meat sandwiches as early as 7:00 AM at Earle’s.

If you’re a sandwich lover who prefers to eat and go in the morning, you can still have an amazing breakfast amidst your schedule at Earle’s Delicatessen. Although the shop is technically a deli that sells a wide range of European sausages, cured meats, and cheese, you can also sample their meats in their sandwiches.
Earle’s Delicatessen serves around 15 types of sausages and 20 variations of deli meats that you can get in your sandwich. Some of their famous sandwiches include the Lamb Sausage Sandwich (PhP220), the Bavarian Cheese Smokies (PhP102), and the Meat Trio (PhP134).
7. Delimondo Café

But don’t just buy your favorite corned beef and leave. Sit, stay, and satisfy yourself with their savory meals featuring Delimondo’s very own products. One of their must-tries is Corned Beef Caldereta Lasagna (PhP250), a lasagna filled with toasted Delimondo corned beef and drowned in rich caldereta (meat stew with vegetable and liver paste) sauce.
