As we enter the month of June, Manileños will be busy with back-to-school preparations. This can lead to an influx of people out and about in malls and on the road. The roads might not only be jam-packed but also wet and slippery due to thunderstorms all throughout the week as the rainy season starts in the country.
Weather: Dry weather transitioning to rainy season
The hot weather will gradually transition into a wet one with partial thunderstorms that will affect the city for majority of the week. However, it will still be warm with an anticipated temperature range of 33 °C to 36 °C [1].
Since the weather is going to be unpredictable, those who will venture outside should bring umbrellas for both heat and rain. The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) previously stated that the rainy season is expected to start during the last week of May up to the first week of June [2]. Roads are expected to be a bit more slippery than the usual so it’s advisable for drivers to be more careful.
Traffic News: LTO introduces new online appointment system
The Land Transportation Office (LTO) improved their website to ease one of the common complaints in the slow process of license renewal. The website introduces an online booking of appointment feature, but this is available as of now only in the Marikina, Pasig, Muntinlupa, and Novaliches branches [3].
Travel Update: Crowds hit malls and Divisoria for back-to-school prep
With back-to-school preparations ongoing, major malls are expected to be crowded as everyone buys school supplies and other items. Affordable commercial centers that sell cheap supplies, such as Divisoria, are also expected to accommodate hundreds of customers. As such, if you are heading to these places, make sure to be careful and watch your personal belongings closely as these areas are prone to pick pockets. [4]
