The Christmas countdown has started, and it seems like everyone is now gearing up for this much-awaited season. As the year nears its end, it may feel like everything is now somehow related to the Yuletide season, but this does not have to be the case. There are still some enjoyable, non-Christmassy things to do, such as singing and dancing along with the hottest local and international bands and artists. Don’t know much about the concert scene for the month? Here are some of the hottest artists to watch this October.
WHAT: Seventeen Diamond Edge in Manila
When: October 6, 8:00 PM

The Korean fever is indeed taking Manila by storm.
Numerous Korean pop (K-pop) artists have dropped by the Philippines earlier this year; to name a few, we have Gdragon, Taeyang, Park Shin Hye, to Nam Joo Hyuk—and to fans’ delight, joining the list is Seventeen. The group is returning to Manila for the last leg of their “Diamond Edge” World Tour. Some of their popular songs include “Don’t Wanna Cry,” “VERY NICE,” and “BOOMBOOM.”

How to Get to SM Mall of Asia: Get off at MRT Taft Avenue Station and ride one of the jeepneys heading to the SM Mall of Asia.
WHAT: The Vamps: Middle of the Night Tour
When: October 6, 7:00 PM to 10:00 PM

The Vamps has been in the country three times already.
Popular British rock quartet The Vamps lands in the Philippines for their “Middle of the Night” Tour. Along with the band is their special guest, New Hope Club, to perform with them.
Tickets will be available to those who will present a minimum of PhP1,500 single-purchase receipt from any TriNoma non-food outlet or a minimum of PhP1,000 single-purchase receipt from selected TriNoma food outlets. Bill payments, drug store purchases, Landmark Department Store, and Supermarket purchases are not valid. Ticket claiming is from October 4 to 5 only. How to Get There: From the North Ave Station of MRT on the side of TriNoma, walk south facing away from SM North EDSA. Turn left after passing Trinoma and walk to Vertis North.
WHAT: Mayday Parade: A Lesson in Romantics 10th Anniversary Tour
When: October 7, 8PM

The “A Lesson in Romantics 10th Anniversary Tour” began as a two-month tour in USA.
American alternative-rock band Mayday Parade will celebrate the 10th anniversary of their debut studio album “A Lesson in Romantics” this October 7 with their loyal Filipino fans. Some of the famous songs from the album include “Jamie All Over” and “Miserable at Best.”

How to Get to Kia Theatre: Alight the LRT-2 train at Araneta Center Cubao and walk along the side of Gateway Mall and Gen. Malvar Avenue until you see Kia Theatre.

Slayer’s songs are regarded as controversial and are even banned in several countries.
For the first time in history, award-winning thrash metal icon Slayer will have its first-ever concert in the Philippines. Slayer is considered to be one of the “big four” of thrash metal bands along with Megadeth, Metallica, and Anthrax. Local rockers and head-bangers are in for a treat as the band will perform some of their famous hits such as “Raining Blood,” “Season in the Abyss,” and “Angel of Death.”

Erykah made her breakthrough in the music industry in the 90s with her Grammy award-winning album “Baduizm.”
For the first time in her two decade-long career, Erykah Badu will be performing live in Manila. The Philippines is the first lady of neo-soul’s last destination for her “Badu Vs Everythang” tour. Her upcoming show will feature opening acts such as Skarm, August Wahh, DJ Shortkut, and many more.

How to get to Sofitel Manila: Sofitel Manila is near the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) Complex at Pasay City. To get there, ride the LRT-Line 1 and get off at Vito Cruz. Then, walk along Pablo Ocampo Street until you spot a terminal of jeepneys going to CCP. Ride the jeepney, and ask the driver to stop at Sofitel.

David Archuleta was only 16 years old when he joined American Idol 7, and he won first runner up.
After five long years away from the Philippines, American Idol alumnus David Archuleta will return for a special one-night concert on October 20. Besides performing his classic songs like “Crush,” “A Little Too Not Over You,” and “Something ‘Bout Love,” David will also promote new songs from his latest EPs released this year.

Ylona Garcia was discovered at the local reality show Pinoy Big Brother.
At only 15 years of age, Ylona Garcia is already set to perform in her first solo concert. She rose to fame through a love team pairing with her fellow Pinoy Big Brother housemate Bailey May, but she definitely made her own name by being one of the most talented performers in ASAP, ABS-CBN’s Sunday variety show.

How to Get to the Music Museum: Walk to Robinson's Galleria across Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA) along Ortigas Avenue. Ride a jeep to San Juan or take an RRCG/G Liner bus to Quiapo, and get off at Greenhills, where the Music Museum is located.

The first K-pop Republic happened four years ago.
With the current frenzy over K-dramas, Korean fashion and cosmetics, and K-pop, it’s safe to say that the Korean fever still hasn’t cooled down. Riding this craze, the second K-Pop Republic will bring K-pop groups WJSN, GFriend, N.Flying, and NCT 127 to the country for a fun one-day concert. Aside from the actual concert, there would also be games and activities for fans to participate in.

Teacher Georcelle of the G-Force is a famous choreographer to the stars
Dancers of all ages will take over the stage of The Theatre at Solaire Resort & Casino on October 28. G-Force is known for producing fine dancers in the country through their dance workshop, G-Force Project. At the end of every workshop session, G-force holds a dance concert featuring its students open for the public.

How to Get to The Theatre: To get to Solaire, take the MRT and alight at Taft Avenue Station, then ride a jeepney to the SM Mall of Asia (MOA). In MOA, wait for Solaire’s free shuttle located at the terminal front. Shuttle trips are available from 11:00 AM to 11:00 PM.
WHAT: Glaiza Kun[g]diman
When: October 27
Where: Music Museum

Glaiza De Castro not only has a pretty face but also a pretty voice.
Glaiza De Castro is more than just a celebrity for her fans. To them, the GMA star is also a singer who can belt out quite impressive tunes. Through the years, Glaiza has been building a solid discography, and now she has a new album, “Magandang Simulain”* (Beautiful Beginning), which she will launch at her concert, “Kun[g]diman.” Gloc-9 and Mike Hanopol will be making guest performances at the concert.

• Follow the social media accounts of the artists or the event organizer to be updated on changes and announcements.
• Double-check the dates and times of the events and your own schedule to see if you need to make adjustments.
• Check the rules and conditions of the venue to avoid any inconveniences.
• Make sure that you know the exact venue and how you will get there.
• Avoid missing any part of the show by adjusting your travel time to consider the heavy traffic that you might encounter on the way to the venue.
