The “ber” months do not only mean the start of the Christmas countdown in the Philippines. It also implies that rains and typhoons are coming and everyone is advised to be ready. But the downpours need not be an excuse to look dull and boring. Here are a few tips to look cool and fab during the “ber” months, from head to toe.
Partner socks with flats.
Pull off a pair of socks in playful colors with your flats or sneakers.
Gloomy weather can give us melancholic feels. You don’t have to let it dictate your mood, though. Wearing a bit of color in your outfit can give you a different persona you might not get by wearing monochrome garments. Doing so can even lift your mind and spirit.
Be playful with your fashion statements by pulling off socks in quirky colors and prints. You can pair socks with either flats or sneakers. Just make sure the design and color complement each other. Aside from aesthetic purposes, socks can warm your feet during the chilly weather.
A pair of reliable boots can be a lifetime investment.
When you were in grade school, you might have known boots as the go-to shoe when flood strikes. But as you grow older, you discover that boots can also double as a must-have for your outfit of the day (OOTD), with or without the rain. This rainy season, you can get a pair of boots for your everyday getup both for office and leisurely walks. Make sure it is made of quality leather that can brave heavy rains.
Fashion tip: Avoid wearing boots made of suede materials during this season because they are vulnerable to water and moisture.
Dark pants or leggings won’t look wet even when they are.
Fill your closet with dark bottom wear because it is the friendliest color during the rainy season. Aside from the fact that it’s easier to pair with any kind of top, black or navy blue pants can save you from looking wet after walking in the rain. It also won’t easily get dirty in case you accidentally get splashed with mud.
Dark pants or leggings won’t look wet even when they are.
For a tropical country like the Philippines, it seems unpractical to wear knitted garments, especially when dressing for summer. But during the rainy season, you can sport knitwear all you want from head to toe. Knitted clothes are comfortable, easy to wear, and keep the wearer warm during chilly days. It doesn’t matter which color you pick. As long as your feel comfortable and confident, you can don your knits without any limits.
Jackets play an important role in your wardrobe. If you are working in an air-conditioned office in the Philippines, you can don jackets, cardigans, and parkas every day regardless if it’s raining or not. But during the rainy season, it is more practical to invest in lightweight, waterproof outwear. There are a number of reasons why these are worth buying: they are easy to wash, won’t take too long to dry, and are convenient to pack it in your bag in case you don’t want to wear it outdoors. Make sure to pick a mix of classic and trendy colors so you can still nail your Instagram-worthy OOTD.
