Summer has come and gone. As we approach the rainy season, it’s not unusual to crave for soup since it keeps you warm from the cold winds. Check out these newly opened restaurants that will serve you hot broth while keeping you dry from the rain.
1. Vietnomnom

Vietnomnom is a Maginhawa street newbie that opened in May 21. It is the newest addition to the list of restaurants that serve an authentic taste of Vietnam. Diners can take a sip of their pho served with well-seasoned noodles, a protein of their choice, lime, chilies, fresh basil leaves, and bean sprouts. At PhP250 per bowl, customers can choose between their beef flavor and the chicken with egg pho.

For rainy days, the thick and rich soup of lomi (egg noodle soup) from The Giving Cafe can fill your tummy. Filled with fresh vegetables, eggs, and pork, just a spoonful of this favorite Filipino merienda (light meal) will bring delight to those looking for a familiar taste of their childhood.

When talking about soup, of course Japanese food is a no brainer. Fujin Izakaya offers a variety of options for Japanese food lovers. Located at Little Baguio in San Juan city, this restaurant offers authentic Japanese cuisine with two variations of miso soup on the menu. Customers can either try the plain miso soup or the creamy miso soup which are both are priced at PhP150.

Restoran Garuda is one of Indonesia’s most popular restaurants and it is now in the Philippines.
For those with adventurous taste buds, one can take a mouthful of their soto ayam, a turmeric and lemon grass soup with chicken, leeks, bean sprouts, tomatoes, cabbage, and glass noodles. Another soup on the menu is sayur lodeh, a soup made with coconut milk and seasonal vegetables.

Those who want to experience North Chinese cuisine can do now so without leaving the country. Located at City of Dreams in Parañaque City, the specialties at Jing Ting are their hand-pulled and pouched hand-pulled noodles accompanied with aromatic soup and broth.
One of the chef’s recommendations is beef slices with mushroom with flat bread in noodle soup. Dinners can pair the noodles with dumplings and rolls on the side. The restaurant is decked with traditional Chinese decor. It is also strategically located near the casinos for a quick bite or a casual dinner after a few games.
6. Roadster Roasters

Roadster Roasters may specialize in roasting meat, pork, chicken and beef but it offers quite a duo of tasty soups to satisfy your cravings. Diners can choose between the healthy and zesty tomato soup or a classic chunky clam chowder. This eatery just opened last June at Highway Hills, Mandaluyong City.
7. Bongchu Express

It is not required to be a Kpop (Korean pop) fan to appreciate the array of Korean food in this restaurant. Bongchu Express is a newly opened hole-in-the-wall which serves the usual favorites like bulgogi (grilled marinated meat) and bibimbap (mixed rice bowl). But if you’re craving for soup, the kalguksu (wheat flour noodle soup) hits the spot. Kalguksu consists of handmade knife-cut noodles with broth rich in vegetable and seafood.

For a quick bite near the east side of Metro Manila, Marita Restaurant in San Roque, Marikina has three kinds of soup. The cream of mushroom soup filled with shitake mushroom cream, olive oil, and parsley, is for those looking for soup with a thick texture. For the health-conscious, a good choice would be the spinach soup with sautéed potatoes and fresh baby spinach blended and topped with cream. Looking for something familiar? The classic Filipino sinigang na baboy (pork in sour soup) is also on the menu.
9. Early Night?

Early Night? already got the attention of netizens due to its Instagram-worthy venue that gives off retro vibes. In addition, this place is perfect venue for late night shenanigans with friends.
Along with the usual sisig (chopped pork pig’s face) meals and fries, they also serve a traditional Filipino soup on the menu, pancit molo (pork dumpling soup). After eating, you can drink cocktails while taking amazing photos underneath their neon signs and cool wall decorations.
10. Dulo

A bar might not be the first thing that comes to mind when finding appetizing meals like soups. However, Dulo, a chill place in Poblacion, Makati offers clam miso soup made with fresh clams, pureed potatoes, cilantro, and miso. They also offer a wide range of beverages to accompany the meals.
