‘The Fate and the Furious’ is Hitting Theaters this April Plus More!
April is filled with concerts, movies, and TV shows to suit anyone’s taste.

Metro Manila is as busy as ever this summer vacation. With lots of fabulous entertainment shows, we surely all want to catch at least one or two them. Music lovers, cinephiles, and even introverts who don’t want spending most of their time outdoors can catch some of the biggest events and flicks coming out this month.
Here, we compile a list of shows you can watch, from music events in crowded concert venues, down to TV shows you can watch from the comfort of your home.
Movies
The Fate of the Furious
The Fate of the Furious is coming to Philippines cinemas this April.
The Fate of the Furious will be showing at Philippine cinemas on April 15. The Fate of the Furious now focuses on Dom being seduced by a mysterious woman who will bring him back to world of crime. He will encounter betrayal from the people closest to him and will face challenges like never before. The elite force will cross the globe to prevent the anarchist from putting the world in chaos.
This is the eighth installment in the action-crime movie franchise The Fast and the Furious.
The Boss Baby
The Boss Baby is the most unusual baby you will ever meet.
From the makers of Shrek and the director of animated film Madagascar, The Boss Baby features an infant baby who wears a corporate suit, carries a briefcase, and speaks with a clear adult voice. He teams up with his seven-year old brother to stop the despicable plot of the CEO of Puppy Co.
This hilarious story narrated by an unreliable seven-year old named Tim will give heart-filled lessons on love and the importance of family.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2
The team’s adventure continues in the Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.
Marvel Studio’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is set to the backdrop of Awesome Mixtape # 2 where the Guardians continue their adventure of solving the mystery of Peter Quill’s parentage. They must keep fighting to shield their newfound family as old foes become new allies. Characters from the original comics will be introduced in this follow-up film as Marvel’s cinematic universe expands.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 will be out on April 26 at cinemas nationwide.
Concerts and Music Events
What: Chroma Music Festival 2.0
When: April 8 2017
Where: Globe Circuit Events Ground, Circuit Makati, Makati City
Chroma Music Festival is having their second debut at Circuit Makati.
The biggest musical event in the metro returns for its second debut on April 8 at Globe Circuit Events Ground in Circuit Makati. With international acts gracing the event, Chroma Festival 2.0 is reportedly selling cheaper tickets compared to other music festivals in the country. Festival attendees can listen to Headhunters, Rave Radio, Jonas Blue, Dyro, Tony Romero, and Onderkoffer, plus supporting acts from DJ Tom Taus, Victor Pring, and more.
The first five male and five female attendees have the chance to participate in the Chroma Ultimate Race which starts at 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM. Winners can get free hotel accommodation, freebies, and a meet-and-greet session with all the artists.
Guests might also check out other activities like the giant ball pit, trampoline, giant beer pong, obstacle courses, and the food bazaar, to name a few. Tickets are sold at SM Tickets outlets nationwide.
What: Switchfoot at Walkway
When: April 16, 2017, 7:00 PM
Where: Bonifacio High Street Amphitheater, Bonifacio Global City, Taguig
Switchfoot comes back to Manila as part of Walkway’s Holy Week specials.
American band Switchfoot, famous for their songs “Only Hope,” “Learning to Breathe,” and “Dare You to Move,” is coming back to Manila. The rock band’s comeback is part of Walkway’s Holy Week line of activities which runs starting on April 9, Palm Sunday until April 16, Easter Sunday.
Every purchase of Walkway shirts worth PhP500 entitles the buyer to one free ticket with access to the main ground. The event is free for all on a first come-first serve basis. The ticket is only necessary for those who want to enter the main concert grounds of the Bonifacio Global City (BGC) Amphitheater.
What: Kenny G Live in Manila
When: April 27, 2017, 8:00 PM
Where: Newport Performing Arts Theater, Resorts World Manila, Pasay City
Kenny G is coming to Manila for his world tour concert.
American saxophonist Kenneth Bruce Gorelick, popularly known as Kenny G, is coming to Manila as part of his world tour. The best-selling instrumental musician has more than 75 million global sales in album sales and is recognized as one of the best musicians of all time. His best-selling album titled “Breathless” includes some of his greatest hits including “Forever in Love,” which received the Grammy Award for the best instrumental composition.
Ticket prices start at PhP2,000 and are available at Resorts World Manila Box Office and TicketWorld.
Local TV Shows
Trip ni Kris
Kris Aquino makes a comeback with a travel show on GMA 7.
The Queen of All Media Kris Aquino returns to Philippine television with a travel show titled Trip ni Kris. Kris has posted in Instagram that 11 months without long road trips and outdoor exposure made her miss the things she loves doing. The show is set to air on April 9 on GMA 7.
The Promise of Forever
ABS-CBN premieres a new television series starring Paulo Avelino and Ritz Azul.
The Promise of Forever is a story of immortal love that takes place across generations through an immortal man played by Paulo Avelino. He meets a woman (Ritz Azul), who will be his love interest, in a Mediterranean cruise. The mystery unfolds as she recognizes some resemblance of the immortal man to her childhood hero. A medical practitioner will also become interested to meet him to make him a subject for his medical experiment of killing an immortal man.
The Promise of Forever has no specific date yet but is reported to air in April 2017.
