The dry season is a good time for some mountain hiking.

The chilly weather of February subsides as the dry season officially begins this month, says Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).

PAGASA assures the public that good weather can still be experienced in the coming days. Although there can be light rains, no tropical cyclone has entered the country yet. The weather makes it a perfect time for travelers to pursue their vacation plans and maximize the sunny and still lightly cool feel.

Sunny weather rules the week

At the start of the week, the sun is out and about and the sunny weather will last all throughout the week. There are still some possibilities of a light shower or thunderstorm at the end of the week, but a sunny day is still expected all throughout.

Umbrella is always a great protection from the sun, plus wearing of clothes with light materials is best to avoid the humid feeling that the weather brings. To those going on vacation which includes staying under the sun for a long time, wearing sunscreen is a good idea to avoid any sunburn.

LTO suspends memo on temporary license plates for three months

The Land Transportation Office (LTO) suspends the enforcement of the memorandum mandating uniform temporary license plates for three months.

Last February 15, LTO released a new memorandum requiring vehicle dealers to print their temporary license plates on a reflective sturdy material in Arial Black font to ensure uniformity and ease of visual recognition. The dealers appealed for more time to comply with the said memorandum.

While the memorandum is in suspension, motorists can still drive their vehicle as long as they use the conduction stickers given to each vehicle as their temporary license plates and they have the original receipt and/or certificate of registration of the vehicle they are driving.

Electricity rates to go up this March

Electricity spikes this month

Electricity rates are expected to go up by PhP1.44 per kilowatt hour this month as Manila Electric Company (MERALCO) applies the generation charges they have incurred from power suppliers in January to February.

MERALCO cites that the additional charges came from generation costs incurred due to plant outages and the use of expensive fuel during the Malampaya shutdown that occurred last January to February.

The said charges will reflect on the March 2017 electric bill of customers.
