Who doesn’t look forward to weekends? It’s the time to unwind after a long week, or simply be with loved ones whom you couldn’t fit in your busy schedule during the week. Weekends are also time for some recreation, the things you do so you are not all work and no play. You can watch movies or stage plays, attend music festivals and concerts, or play a game or two at the casino. The good news is, you can do all of them in Metro Manila this weekend.
In this list of weekend entertainment, we’ve rounded up the latest happenings in the metro and things that you can do with your family and friends.
Movie

We’ve known him as Harry Potter, but Daniel Radcliffe is all grown up now. In the thriller movie Imperium showing this weekend, he plays as a young undercover FBI agent who infiltrates a white supremacist group. Other stars in the movie include Toni Collette, Tracy Letts, Sam Trammell, and Nestor Carbonell. Imperium is directed and written by Daniel Ragussis.
Theater

Worldwide sensation Blue Man Group brings theater, comedy, rock concert, and dance party into one music festival. Formed in 1991, Blue Man Group is a performance art company that became popular for their stage productions. You can watch their show from September 14 to 25 at The Theatre at Solaire. Ticket prices range from PhP1,018.90 to PhP5,852.
Concert

If you’re in the mood for some original Pilipino music (OPM) this weekend, you can watch Noel Cabangon in Traffic Jam. He is known for his hit songs Kanlungan, Kahit Maputi na ang Buhok Ko, and Tuwing Umuulan at Kapiling Ka. He will have a concert on September 16, 8:00 PM, at the Music Museum. Ticket prices range from PhP824 to PhP2,575.
Music Festival

On September 17, Road to Ultra 2016 will feature electronic music artists on a stage adorned with visuals, lighting, pyrotechnics, and kryogenics. You can watch performances by artists such as Alesso, Tiesto, Hardwell, Moti, and Fedde Le Grand. Other artists who will also be there to perform include Jessica Milner, Raiden, and Tom Taus. The electronic music festival Road to Ultra started in 2012 and has since wowed crowds in different countries, including Thailand, Korea, Japan, Taiwan, Colombia, Paraguay, and Chile. Road to Ultra 2016 will be held at Mall of Asia Arena. Ticket prices range from PhP2,500 to PhP5,500.

On September 18, 7:00 PM, at the Newport Performing Arts Theater, 27 men will compete at Misters of Filipinas 2016. Presented by Prime Event Productions Philippines Foundation Inc., the pageant seeks out the most dynamic men who can represent the country in some of the biggest pageants for men in the world. Misters of Filipinas 2016 also aims to spread the message that our men can also bring honor to the country in the same way that our beauty queens have. Ticket prices range from PhP522.50 to PhP4,180.
Clubs
You can visit Prohibition Liquor Lounge for some good club dance music and drinks.
Looking for a place to hang out with your friends this weekend? You can invite them to Electro Saturday at Prohibition Liquor Lounge. There will be club dance music beats from CANNA-BASS, DJ Jayjay Cruz, and DJ Jk Srmn. From 11:00 PM to 12:00 AM, ladies can get free drinks while men can order local beers at a promo price.

This Saturday, you can have a sparkling night with your friends at Wild Night Saturdays from Sparks. With their beer pong, drinks, and party music, you can enjoy a wild and exciting time as you unwind after a long work week. Sparks is a club and sports bar open for 24 hours every day.

Jo and the Holy Notes is a group of gifted artists who have been performing for over 12 years. They became popular for their repertoire of hits from different genres. You can see them perform on September 16, 11:45 PM, at Bar 360.
Casinos
