Metro Manila Shake Drill

The second Metro Manila ShakeDrill will be on June 22 at 9:00 AM. This Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA)-led activity will be participated by government employees as well as those in the private sectors and establishments.
The earthquake drill aims to educate the public on what to do in case the ‘Big One’ strikes or the projected scenario where Metro Manila is shaken by a strong quake of 7.2 magnitude due to movement of the West Valley Fault actually happens. The Metro Manila ShakeDrill is set concurrent to the National Simultaneous Earthquake Drill organized by the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council.
TRAFFIC ADVISORY

In line with the Metro Manila Shakedrill, MMDA warns the public of possible heavy traffic during the metro wide earthquake drill. Last year, some parts of Metro Manila were closed to motorists and commuters to give way to the activity.
This year, MMDA is asking everyone to cooperate.

El Niño is over but bright skies can still be seen this week with late afternoon rains which can be accompanied with a couple of thunderstorms. According to Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), La Niña might kick in during the second half of 2016.
Travelers who are planning to visit the Philippines can check real-time weather forecasts on TheFilipino Weather Channel website (http://www.dostv.ph). The website, which also offers science stories, interviews, and short documentaries, is also available via DOSTvYouTube channel. The online channel started airing on May 30.

The 1st Annual Rizal Park Arnis Showdown is an arnis Filipino martial arts competition organized by Jendo Philippines Association and NMGC Philippines in cooperation with PIGSAI, Arnis Combat Kiathson with the support of the National Parks Development Committee (NPDC). Event is on Sunday, June 26, 2016 at 8:00 AM onwards. Arnis, the national sport and martial art of the Philippines, is also known as Eskrima and Kali.
