Movies
Bookworms and comic book fans have a lot to look forward to this week in cinemas, as movie adaptations of popular books and comics come alive on the big screen.
Me Before You opened in cinemas last June 15
One such adaptation is Me Before You, starring Emilia Clarke and Sam Claflin. Based on Jojo Moyes’ novel, this romantic drama tells the story of a wealthy paraplegic falling in love with his quirky caregiver. Me Before You opens in cinemas and theaters nationwide.

Those looking to have some wholesome family fun might want to watch Finding Dory, showing in Philippine cinemas this June 16. Pixar’s latest animated movie is the sequel to the 2003 film Finding Nemo. Comedian and TV host Ellen DeGeneres lends her voice to play Dory, the forgetful blue tang fish that sets out on a quest to find her parents.
Theater
Just in time for La Niña season, award-winning musical Rak of Aegis is set to return on its 5th run from June 17 to August 28. You can catch it on Tuesdays and Fridays at 8:00 PM or on Saturdays and Sundays at 3:00 PM and 8:00 PM at the Philippine Educational Theater Association (PETA) Theater Center.

The musical follows the story of Eileen, a promodizer who dreams of achieving YouTube fame to help uplift her impoverished community—which is constantly inundated during the rainy season. Tickets are available through TicketWorld or at PETA.
Concerts

With hits like “Do You Really Want to Hurt Me” and “Karma Chameleon,” fans can revisit the ‘80s in the Culture Club featuring Boy George Live in Manila! concert this June 17, 8:00 PM at the Smart Araneta Colisuem. The reunion tour marks the first time that the band performs together on stage after 12 years with all their members performing. Tickets range from PhP2,000 to PhP15,000 and are available through TicketNet.
Auto Shows
If you like your trucks big and loud, then Monster Jam 2016 might just be your thing. This high-octane event features world-class drivers, monster truck racing, and freestyle competitions that will send fans into overdrive.You can catch it on June 18, 2:00 PM and June 19, 2:00 PM at the SM Mall of Asia Arena.

Tickets range from PhP850 to PhP4,000 and can be bought at SM Tickets outlets and online. Visa cardholders can also enjoy a 10% discount. Pit Party passes are also available at PhP500. With this pass, guests get access to the Monster Jam Party in the Pit, where they can take photos, get autographs, and buy food and drinks from various concessionaires. Spectators are advised to bring earplugs or headphones to protect their ears from high noise levels.
