Giving gifts to our dads on Father’s Day is one of the most common things we do to make our fathers feel special on Father’s Day. But if you have already bought a gift for him and want to do something more special, then a dinner date with the whole family is in order! If everyone in the family is seldom home or always busy because of school or work, or some of the children have already left the nest to live independently or have gotten married, then your Father will surely appreciate it to see his brood gathered, enjoying each other’s company, and dining together on Father’s Day.

There are a lot of restaurants out there where you can have a perfect family dinner, but in most cases, this costs a lot. But take heart—as long as you are creative and resourceful, arranging a perfect dinner for the family need not be expensive.

Here are some dinner ideas that are easy on your wallet.

Cook dinner. Admit it—eating out can be expensive, especially if you are in the city. And finding a nice restaurant can be time-consuming. Instead of wasting so much time deciding where to eat, why not stay at home and cook your Papa’s favorite meal? This home cook dinner will surely be more memorable for him because you’ve put time and effort into preparing the dish. You can also make cooking an activity for the entire family. You can do the grocery shopping and prepare the dishes together. This will not only help you stay on budget, but you will also be able to spend more time with each other—from buying the needed ingredients and cooking the meals, to having the actual dinner.

Stay in and have a game/movie/pampering night. Make dinner together at home and have a game night by playing your favorite board or card games. You can also go for a movie or TV series marathon so your Dad can finally watch that film or show that he always wanted to see. Just make sure you are able to slyly ask ahead of time what flicks he likes. Another great idea is to get your dad pampered. If you have the skill, you can give him a massage, haircut, pedicure, hot oil, and many more. The idea is to make him feel relaxed.

Find entertainment or sports vibe suited to your Father's taste. A dinner at a restaurant does not have to mean just eating dinner and going home. To make the dinner more special and worth your money, find a venue with a live band playing in the background. Find a place that have a nostalgic feel, or have that vibe suited to your Father’s taste. Or if your Father is up for sports, maybe he will enjoy to watch a live basketball game. There are a lot of places and offers nowadays that make Father's day a lot more interesting.

Go on a picnic. You can go to nearby parks meant for picnics. Find a nice spot with a great view of the sky, bring some food and drinks, lay a comfy blanket, and you will have the perfect family bonding you’ve always wanted! You can go cycling or have a barbecue if allowed in the place. You can even try night photography and create an album of the awesome pictures you and your Dad were able to capture. Just make sure to check the weather forecast.

Take advantage of credit card offers. If you find coupons for a Father’s Day treat a bit tacky, look for restaurant promos by different credit card providers. From great discounts to exciting freebies such as desserts or a bottle of wine, your credit card will be able to help you arrange a family date at a much lower cost. Subscribe to your credit card provider’s email newsletter so you will not miss any exciting deals.

There are so many ways to make Father’s Day memorable for you and your family. You can go to a high-end restaurant to make the day extra special or give him expensive gifts; either way, you’re sure to have a good time. There’s nothing wrong with that, especially if you have the resources. Nevertheless, a perfect Father’s Day celebration does not necessarily have to come with a hefty price tag. All you need to do is to know and remember what his interests are as well as what he likes and doesn’t like. Use this knowledge when arranging your Father’s Day celebration. After all, it’s not about how much you spend, but how much you care for your Dad and the time and effort you put into making the most important man in the house feel your love.
