April officially marks the start of the summer season! Aside from out-of-town trips and the Lenten season, it also signals one more thing: End of Season Sale!
Here are some items that are trending and usually on sale this month. Enjoy the discounts while they last.
THIRST QUENCHERS AND SUMMER DESSERTS
The Philippines has plenty of tropical fruits that can be made into healthy thirst quenchers. Examples are coconut available for PhP28 to PhP30 and melon for PhP40 to PhP60 sold by street vendors. Several websites give recipes for homemade summer cool drinks such as Better Homes and Gardens (http://www.bhg.com/recipes/drinks/seasonal/summer-beverage-recipes/) and, for local recipes, Panlasang Pinoy (http://panlasangpinoy.com/beverage-recipes/). But if you have no time to make one, you can find different refreshing drinks being offered in restaurants and in the streets.
Where to buy: In Acacia Hotel Manila’s buffet restaurant, you can make your own halo-halo when you drop by the dessert station.
ORGANIC, EARTH-FRIENDLY GOODIES
Since Earth Day is celebrated every April 22nd, most advocates of naturally made products make use of this month to promote their goods and their cause. If you were eyeing that organic face mask or those healthy, organic treats from the store, better buy them this month and who knows, you might get perks and other bonuses.
Where to buy: You can visit Organikountry store where you can find several delicious organic products.
SMALL KITCHEN APPLIANCES
Graduation season is here, so possible gifts and tokens will be put on sale this month. Mostly these things are those that new graduates could use— like coffee makers and grinders, blenders and juicers, pizza ovens, and countertop microwaves for their new apartment. Some even give away plates and dinnerware. According to Daily Finance, "retailers begin putting small kitchen appliances on sale during April” as probable gifts to fresh grads (and also newlyweds).
Where to buy: You can check out Fukuda and other appliance stores who are joining the Big Brand Summer Sale on March 28 to April 3, 2016 at State Center Building, Juan Luna St., Binondo, Manila.
TV AND OTHER ELECTRONIC GADGETS
Life Hacker website reports that March signals the end of the Japanese fiscal year. This means that goods made in Japan will be put on sale as they try to get rid of old stocks and prepare to manufacture new goodies. Of course, most of the products that will be discounted are last year’s model, but hey! That doesn’t mean they are not great!
MOTHER'S DAY DEALS
Better deals for moms such as a new set of jewelry or spa services are available during April. You can easily find other ideal Mother’s Day gifts here and there like clothes, perfume, bags, and shoes. Coupons and gift certificates at discounted prices will also be up for grabs.
SUMMER WORKSHOPS
Summer vacation gives ample time for rest, traveling, as well as learning for you and your kids. Lots of summer workshops and activities are offered during this season. Are you interested in theater production? The Philippine Educational Theater Association in Quezon City will be holding the “Integrated Theater Arts” workshop on April 13 to May 8 at Php8,000 for ages 13 to 16 and “Theater Arts Production” workshop on April 16 to May 15 for ages 17 and up for PhP9,000.
