As the first phase of the
COVID-19 vaccination in Cebu City is nearly finished, the Cebu City Government prepares for the next group to receive the free vaccine shot against the virus. As of writing, about 2,000 frontline medical workers need to be vaccinated to complete the city’s A1 group, according to City Health Department (CHD) Division Head Dr. Ilya Tac-an. As this is occurring,
vaccine registration in Cebu is also ongoing.
The next subgroup is the A2 category which includes senior citizens. They fall under the qualification as experts believe that they are highly at risk of getting the virus. Meanwhile, persons with comorbidities (chronic respiratory disease, hypertension, cardiovascular disease, chronic kidney disease, cerebrovascular disease, malignancy, diabetes, obesity, chronic liver disease, neurologic disease, and immunodeficiencies) fall under the A3 category. Read on for more information on
vaccine registration in Cebu.
For Senior Citizens
The city government made registration convenient for individuals who have access to the internet by launching their own online registration website. The site can be accessed through the following link: https://bit.ly/3wx2sCJ.
Meanwhile, senior citizens who have a hard time with online registration can call their barangay officials for house-to-house registration. Furthermore, senior citizens who are still unsure about getting vaccinated can still register and have the right to change their minds once vaccines available arrive. As of writing, only 11 percent of the total population of elderly persons have registered for the free COVID-19 vaccine in Cebu City.
For Individuals with Comorbidities
Under the A3 category, persons with comorbidities are advised by the city government to provide proof when signing up for the COVID-19 vaccine. Here are the following requirements that they should secure:
• Medical certificate
• Medicine prescriptions
• Hospital, surgical, or pathology records
The Department of Health (DOH) also noted that these records should be issued within the past 18 months to pass for eligibility.
