October may be the month when ghouls and goblins come out to play, but Cebu is prepared to let them have a little bit of fun. A beach party, dance workshop, and concert of local artists are just some of the live shows in Cebu this October 2019 that guests can check out. Dance enthusiasts can also look forward to a dance workshop while a benefit fashion show gives visitors the chance to pay it forward.

These sources of entertainment will likely make you want to book that flight to Cebu even without any ongoing seat sale. Read on to know more about the live shows in Cebu this October 2019!


1. Local Vocal Takeover

When: October 11, 2019
Where: Troy Music & Bistro, J. Block Building, Apitong Street, Cebu City

Local music enthusiasts will likely have the time of their lives in this invitation-only event at the Troy Music & Bistro.

Local music lovers will likely look forward to the second Friday of October as Sound Balloon Entertainment and Magic 92.3 Cebu brings back Local Vocal Takeover. Hosted by Troy Music & Bistro, the event will see The Line Divides, Kubra Commander, and The Ambassadors playing for a limited number of guests. This invitation-only event is a concert series aimed at promoting local artists.

Tip: Invitation-only events means there is a limited number of slots for guests. If you want to see your name on the list, you should make sure to register early.

How to get to Troy Music & Bistro: From Ayala Center Cebu, walk towards the back of Quest Hotel and Conference Center until you reach Apitong Street. Follow the street until you reach Troy Music & Bistro. The place is located on the left side of the road.



2. Electro Beach Fest Vol. 13: Tokyo Drift

When: October 12, 2019
Where: Ibiza Beach Club, Mövenpick Hotel Mactan Island Cebu, Lapu-Lapu City
Ticket Price: PhP600 for early birds until October 11; PhP1,000 for guests who buy the tickets at the venue

Guests can dance to the beat of their favorite dance hits and party remixes at the Electro Beach Fest Vol. 13: Tokyo Drift.

Ibiza Beach Club is bringing back a world-renowned event to Cebu at the Electro Beach Fest Vol. 13: Tokyo Drift. The 13th edition of the electro party also will also give guests the chance to have fun at the beach to the beats of DJ Daiki Wakabayashi along with other international guest DJs. Additionally, guests can look forward to a night filled with party remixes and dance their hearts away under the pale moonlight.

Tip: Attending a dance party at the beach means you have to dress the part. You would not want your suit and tie getting wet while dancing to the beat at the beach.

How to get to Ibiza Beach Club: From Ayala Center Cebu, you can ride a taxi or a book a GrabCar at the Terraces to the Ibiza Beach Club at the Movenpick Mactan Island Hotel.


3. Fields of Hope: Pink Charity Ball

When: October 12, 2019
Where: Waterfront Cebu City Hotel and Casino, Salinas Drive, Cebu City

The Pink Charity Ball is now on its second year of raising awareness and giving hope to people who are continuing their battle against cancer.

On October 12, residents and visitors of the Queen City of the South will have the chance to do their good deed for the day at the Fields of Hope: Pink Charity Ball. Aimed at raising awareness and giving hope in the battle against the big C, the benefit fashion show features the 2019 Holiday Collection of renowned Cebuano designer Jun Escario. Now in its second year, the Pink Charity Ball is co-presented by ClothesForLife and Oro China Jewelry. All proceeds of the event hosted by Waterfront Cebu City Hotel and Casino will go to the iCanServe Foundation.

Tip: When you attend charity balls and other benefit shows, it is important to be at the venue before the start of the event. It is also essential to follow the dress code.

How to get to Waterfront Cebu City Hotel and Casino: From Ayala Center Cebu, get on a jeepney going to Cebu IT Park. Tell the driver to let you off at Waterfront Cebu City Hotel and Casino.



4. CemenTouryo

When: October 19, 2019

You can get the chance to join an unusual tour of Cebu during the CemenTouryo 2019.

While a usual tour of Cebu takes visitors to well-known tourist spots, CemenTOURyo gives you a walking tour of cemeteries in the city. In this event, you will get the chance to visit some well-known cemeteries in the Queen City of the South. The first stop is the Donya Pepang Cemetery, which was built for the first wife of Don Sergio Osmeña. The other cemeteries included in the tour are the Spanish-era Carreta Cemetery and the Cebu Chinese Cemetery.

Tip: It is advisable to wear light clothing and carry a bottle of water when you participate in a walking tour in the city.

How to get to Donya Pepang Cemetery: From Ayala Center Cebu, you can get on a jeepney with the route number 13C. Tell the driver to let you off at the corner of General Maxilom Ext and Gorordo Avenue. Walk along General Maxilom Ext in the direction of Robinson’s Galleria. Once you reach the intersection of General Maxilom Ext and M.J. Cuenco Avenue, turn right and walk towards the entrance of Donya Pepang Cemetery, which is right behind the DSWD compound.


5. Story Nights Cebu - Goosebumps

Residents and visitors alike can listen to spine-tingling stories from beyond the grave at Story Nights Cebu – Goosebumps.

It’s the time of the year again when stories of the paranormal are coming out. On October 25, you will get the chance to listen to stories from the other side during the Story Nights Cebu – Goosebumps. Organized by Rachel Arandilla, the event lets you listen to hair-raising stories that may make you want to leave the lights on at night. Story Nights is a non-profit organization of storytellers that originated in Europe.

Tip: Telling a story requires you to have a strong and confident voice. You should also tell stories that you like and maintain a good pace while telling the story.

How to get to KMC Solutions: From Ayala Center Cebu, you can get on a Beep bus to Cebu IT Park. Get off at the West Geonzon Street bus stop and walk to the Skyrise 4 building.



6. Sigbin: Stories of the Region – Cebu

Learn about the creatures that go bump in the night in the Visayas at the Sigbin: Stories of the Region.

On the weekend just before Halloween, the Guang Ming Institute of Performing Arts-Cebu will host the Sigbin: Stories of the Region – Cebu. The theatrical presentation gives residents and visitors to Cebu a peek at some creatures that go bump in the night. Presented by Studio Evision, the event will be held at the newly-opened performing arts center at the Fo Guang Shan Chu Un Temple. The sigbin is a creature in Visayan folklore with large ears and a long tail which walks backward with its head between its legs.

Tip: One very important rule to observe while watching a play is to avoid taking pictures during the presentation. Aside from distracting the performers, you will also end up blocking the view of people sitting behind you.

How to get to Guang Ming Institute of Performing Arts-Cebu: From Ayala Center Cebu, get on a jeepney going to Robinson’s Fuente. After reaching Robinson’s Fuente, walk to the jeepney stop close to Metrobank Plaza. Get on a jeepney with the route number 06C and tell the driver to let you off at the Fo Guang Shan Chu Un Temple along V. Rama Avenue.

7. KIZ Invasion CEBU

When: October 25 to 27, 2019
Where: La Vie in the Sky, Cebu Tops Road, Busay, Cebu City

Locals and visitors of Cebu will get the chance to learn a thing or two from a world-renowned dance instructor at the KIZ Invasion CEBU.

The hearts of dance enthusiasts will likely skip a beat in anticipation for KIZ Invasion CEBU. The event will feature three nights of social dancing, workshops, a competition, and performance night for its participants. Set at La Vie in the Sky, the event will be graced by six-time Asian Kizomba champion SanJay MJ. He is well-known within Latin Dance circles and has 14 years of experience in different dance styles, including Afrohouse, Salsa, Hip-Hop, and Bachata, among others. Each night, participants will get the chance to join social dancing amid a panoramic view of the city at night.

Tip: To get the most out of a dance workshop, you can talk with the instructor before the workshop starts and ask quality questions about the class. The dance instructor will likely be too focused on the workshop once it starts.
