Gone are the days when you have to buy your own pyrotechnics to light up the night sky for the New Year. These days, there are several venues in Cebu where people can count down the last few seconds before 2018.
Be it a mall, hotel, or resort, these places attract thousands of holiday revelers. Below are eight places in Cebu where you can see a remarkable fireworks display for the New Year.
1. Ayala Center Cebu

Ayala Center Cebu is the first shopping center built by Ayala Corporation outside Metro Manila. The Terraces offers a good amount of green spaces, giving it a relaxing ambiance. Celebrating New Year at the mall also allows you to combine shopping with fun.
After having your fill of shopping and dining, you can enjoy a magnificent fireworks display as Ayala Center Cebu counts down to the New Year. Regular mall hours are from 10:00 AM to 9:00 PM from Sunday to Thursday and 10:00 AM to 10:00 PM on Fridays and Saturdays. However, they have special operating hours for the holiday season.
2. SM City Cebu

SM City Cebu is the fourth mall opened by the biggest shopping mall operator in the country, SM Prime Holdings. It is the first mall developed by the company outside Metro Manila.
Aside from the New Year, SM City Cebu also organizes a fireworks display for Sinulog. The pyrotechnic show is typically held at the Northwing open parking area. Regular mall hours are from 10:00 AM to 9:00 PM from Sunday to Thursday, and 10:00 AM to 10:00 PM on Friday and Saturday. They have special mall hours for the holiday season.
3. SM Seaside City Cebu

SM Seaside City Cebu is the fourth biggest SM mall in the country. One of the main features of the mall is The Cube, which is interestingly an anagram for Cebu.
The best place to watch the fireworks display for New Year is at The SkyPark. In addition, The SkyPark provides shoppers an excellent view of the sea fronting the mall. SM Seaside City Cebu is open from 10:00 AM to 9:00 PM every day, with special mall hours for the holiday season.
4. Waterfront Cebu City Hotel and Casino

The Waterfront Cebu City Hotel and Casino first opened its doors in Cebu City in 1998 for the ASEAN Tourism Forum. It has gradually become one of the notable landmarks in Cebu. The hotel is one of the preferred venues for conventions and events in the country.
To celebrate New Year’s Eve, Waterfront is offering special room rates which includes two tickets to their New Year countdown gala dinner and show. This package offers guests a chance to experience New Year in the Best City Hotel for 2015 and 2016, as awarded by Sun.Star Weekend Best of Cebu.
5. Marco Polo Plaza Cebu

Marco Polo Plaza Cebu was once called Cebu Plaza Hotel. It is situated 600 meters above sea level and gives guests a panoramic view of the city.
To ring in 2018, Marco Polo will host a countdown party dubbed All That Glitters. It includes a New Year’s Eve international buffet dinner with free-flowing beverages at the grand balcony. There will be music by all-female trio Silk Band, Deuce aka Patty Tiu, and the top DJs of Cebu. Guests can also hang out at Blu Bar and Grill, one of the best roofdeck bars in Cebu City to watch fireworks.
6. Radisson Blu Cebu

Radisson Blu Cebu has the distinction of being recognized by the Hotel Sales and Marketing Association (HSMA) International for its notable marketing campaign. The hotel is also an award-winning venue for meetings, incentives, conventions, and exhibition (MICE) events.
To welcome the New Year, Radisson will stage Lumiere: A New Year’s Eve Party at the Blu. Guests can enjoy a dinner buffet with free-flowing drinks, and participate in the New Year’s Eve countdown party.
7. Crown Regency Hotel & Towers

The Crown Regency Hotel & Towers is the flagship hotel of Crown Regency Hotels & Resorts. This 48-storey structure is the tallest hotel building in the country. You can easily spot it at night because of its signature colorful lights.
To end 2017, Crown Regency will have a New Year countdown party at Sparkz Restobar. Partygoers can enjoy an international dinner buffet, go on one Sky Experience adventure ride, and watch the fireworks show. Guests can also have a Chinese dinner buffet at Wang Shan Lo, and see the fireworks from the Sky Observation Deck at the 38th floor.
8. Montebello Villa Hotel

Montebello Villa Hotel is the lone garden hotel in the Queen City of the South. The hacienda-style design reflects the charm and richness of the Hispanic heritage of Cebu. Their landscaped garden and swimming pools evoke a resort ambiance and enhance the appeal of the hotel.
This December 31, Montebello will hold Sparkle 2018: A New Year’s Eve Party. Guests can enjoy an international dinner buffet with wine, watch bands and dance shows, and a fireworks display by Pyroworks. For an additional fee, guests can have access to an open bar from 9:30 PM to 12:00 midnight.
