The “ber” months in Cebu bring about changes, from a new proposal to an ongoing construction project, to price hikes for Christmas goods. Despite this, unique offerings like a medieval-themed restaurant and a modern art museum keeps locals and tourists on their toes. Lastly, a film festival brings Korean culture closer to Cebuanos.
Dedicated BRT lanes

Though intended for use by private vehicles, Cebu City Mayor Tomas Osmeña wants the N. Bacalso underpass to be dedicated solely for the Cebu Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project. The PhP683-million underpass project, which is currently being constructed, will be part of the 21.5-km. BRT route from Bulacao to Talamban. The underpass spans 700 meters and is situated at the intersection of N. Bacalso Avenue and F. Llamas Street.
Osmeña’s proposal on how to utilize the underpass would need to undergo approval from the regional director of the Department of Public Works and Highways Region 7.

For a medieval dining experience, diners can head to The Thray , a seafood-and-steak restaurant in Guadalupe. They offer individual meals as well as boodle sets with meat and seafood good for two to four people. Completing the medieval feel of the restaurant are waiters dressed as squires, and a collection of Game of Thrones and Lord of the Rings action figures.
The Thray is located at Grove Building, V. Rama Ave., Guadalupe, Cebu City. They are open Tuesdays to Sundays from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM for lunch, and 5:00 PM to 9:30 PM for dinner.
Upside Down World Cebu

Locals and tourists can experience the first modern art museum featuring a house where things are displayed in a gravity-defying way. Upside Down World Cebu features 11 themed rooms:living room, library, bedroom, kids’ playroom, market, kitchen, dining room, laundry area, comfort room, fortune teller room, and casino. Guests can have fun playing around with different poses at each room.
Upside Down World Cebu is open from 10:00 AM to 9:00 PM daily. Entrance is at PhP350 for adults, and PhP250 for kids aged four to 12 years old. Kids aged zero to three get in for free.
Sweets from Pink Heaven

Homegrown bakeshop and bistro Pink Heaven is known for their sweet and savory dishes. They offer Asian fusion, Cajun, American and Filipino fare, but they are best known for their sans rival. Now locals and travelers can bring home a taste of Pink Heaven with their soft and delicate delicacy called Vivienne. A box of seven pieces retails at PhP99, while a box of 21 pieces is at PhP295.
Pink Heaven has branches in Talisay City, SM Seaside City Cebu, and SM City Cebu.
Korean Film Festival 2017

The Korean Film Festival 2017 is slated for Sep. 28 to Oct. 1 at SM City Cebu Cinema 5. The festival will feature five films: My Brilliant Life, The King of Jokgu, Very Ordinary Couple, How to Steal a Dog, and Twenty. Admission is free. Tickets are given on a first-come first-served basis outside the cinema.
Unstable weather
Mornings will be sunny but afternoons will be rainy in Cebu.
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) – Mactan has advised locals and travelers in Cebu to prepare for erratic weather. Engr. Oscar Tabada of the local weather bureau has said to expect sunny mornings and rainy afternoons this week. The unstable weather is caused by the intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ). This belt of low pressure brings rains and thunderstorms in vast areas. Due to this, flooding may occur in areas with poor drainage systems. It is advisable to bring umbrellas for outdoor activities.
Price increase for Christmas goods
Ham and other Christmas food might be more expensive this year.
Consumers can expect a slight increase in prices when they go Noche Buena grocery shopping this year. The rising prices of Christmas goods, especially imported ones, are caused by the weakening peso. The Department of Trade and Industry is yet to issue a suggested retail price (SRP) list of holiday products. But this early, DTI officials have noted price hikes in sardines, canned meat, milk products, as well as bath and laundry soaps. DTI Central Visayas Regional Director Asteria Caberte has said that their office will continue to keep track of the prices of holiday goods.
