Several proposals raised to help reduce traffic volume during Christmas

Gloomy weather is expected for the whole week in Cebu.
Gloomy weather will dominate the week in the Queen City of the South. This comes after two typhoons ravaged the Luzon area one after the other. Scattered rain showers and thunderstorms are expected late in the afternoon to early evening.
TRAFFIC NEWS
Proposed ban of private vehicles from Mandaue-Mactan bridges
As part of the effort in reducing traffic on the two bridges connecting Mandaue and Mactan island, Cebu City Mayor Tomas Osmeña proposed the banning of private vehicles in the two bridges spanning the Mactan Channel for a number of hours every day. He said while the ban will be implemented during rush hours only, it can help in reducing traffic on the two bridges. However, the proposal was opposed by officials from the City Traffic Management System (CTMS) of Lapu-Lapu City and the Traffic Enforcement Agency of Mandaue (TEAM). Instead, they proposed the implementation of a number coding scheme to reduce traffic in the area.

On the other hand, the Mandaue City Government is planning to request the MyBus management to adjust their routes within the city in preparation for the Christmas rush. TEAM Operations Head Glenn Antigua said they want the buses to pass through S. B. Cabahug St. on their way to the airport rather than D. M. Cortes St. The change will allow the bus to cater to passengers along United Nations Ave. A city-owned lot will be used as the drop-off and loading point for commuters headed for Lapu-Lapu City and the airport.
The proposal comes ahead of the expected increase in traffic volume during the Christmas rush. Antigua added that there are 400,000 vehicles passing through Mandaue City every day. He said the proposed change in the MyBus route is aimed at discouraging people from buying cars during Christmas.

Ayala Center Cebu shows its support for breast cancer awareness with Pink October. The month-long celebration is marked with special offers from participating mall tenants, Zumba sessions, and free breast screening and consultation with obstetricians and gynecologists, among others. The late Mrs. Evelyn H. Lauder started the breast cancer awareness campaign in 1992 aimed at enhancing awareness, raising funds, and inspiring meaningful action in the struggle against breast cancer. The campaign is symbolized by a pink ribbon.

A six-star boutique resort in the north

Kandaya Resort is a relatively new summer destination offering comfort and luxury to beach lovers. Located in the town of Daanbantayan, the resort is considered as the first six-star boutique resort in Cebu. It is the brainchild of MSY Holdings Corporation CEO Martin Phillip S. Yeung. The name of the resort pays homage to Datu Daya, an ancient tribal chieftain who served as the protector of the town.

The resort has 8 rooms and suites along with 22 standalone villas. Sixteen of the villas have their own swimming pool. The resort sits on a 14-hectare property featuring a wide beachfront. Guests can take a dip either at the beach or at the swimming pool, which is located in front of the main building. Other amenities at Kandaya Resort include a yoga studio, gym, and martial arts center. The resort has a spa offering different types of spa treatments to its guests. The Daya spa offers a number of massage methods, facials, manicure, pedicure and wraps.

Kandaya Resort is three hours away from Cebu City and is accessible to public and private transportation.

A trip to the north of Cebu can be quite tiring and one can get very hungry from the journey. One of the places where travelers to the north regularly drop by for a meal is Duko Duko Eatery in Barangay Macaas, Catmon, Cebu. While the place serves typical carinderia (small eatery) food, it has a couple of dishes that have attracted visitors to the north.
These dishes are lechon kawali (crispy pork belly), pochero, and deep-fried native chicken. The place is typically filled with travelers to and from the north for lunch and dinner. Due to this, it is best to drop by the place right before lunch or dinner rush.

Aside from the three best-sellers of Duko Duko Eatery, the place also offers dinuguan (pork offal stew), balbacua (stewed ox skin and tail), and other Cebuano favorites. Duko Duko Eatery is located at the left side of the road for northbound vehicles. The place has ample parking space for visitors who may be bringing their own cars.
