Mention the word shopping and what usually comes to mind is an image of a fashionable woman wearing oversized glasses, carrying a handful of shopping bags in one arm and a cup of overpriced coffee on the other. Such is the stereotype associated with the phrase “shop till you drop.”
But you don’t have to follow these clever catchphrases and resort to mindless purchasing. Being a savvy shopper means making smart purchases by doing some research and exploring your options before buying. Yes, you can still shop—not till you drop—but while sticking to a budget. For starters, you can check these great deals in Cebu for the month of March.
March buffet promo for graduates
March is graduation month and what better way to celebrate this important milestone than with friends and family? At the Cebu City Marriott Hotel’s Garden Café, new graduates can avail of their “4 + 1 Promo.” All they have to do is bring four friends, show their diploma and the new graduate can eat at their lunch or dinner buffet for free. Regular prices are at PhP850 for lunch and PhP1,200 to PhP1,600 for dinner.

Fashion finds at a steal
Stylists often say to have a high-low approach towards fashion by mixing high-end, branded items with low-end bargain pieces.
You can do exactly that by shopping at ukay-ukay stores, named as such because you literally have to dig your way through piles of clothing to look for something you like. Carbon Market has ukay-ukay stalls where you can score blouses for as low as PhP20 toPhP50. The stalls open at 11:00 AM and close at 6:00 PM. As it is a public market filled with people, practice safety precautions such as refraining from bringing valuables and carrying only the cash you need.

You can also go to surplus shops along Osmeña Boulevard such as Praktikal Fashionistas Choice, Conbef Surplus Center, Carlo’s Fashion Shop, or the Grand Bazaar Clothing Shop in the JRG Building at Gen. Maxilom Ave. Chat up the salespersons and ask what day of the week they have new items shipped in. You can write your number in their contact list so they can notify you when they get a new shipment or when they’re having a sale.

To complete the high-end part of the equation, pair your ukay-ukay finds with branded pieces. Thankfully, you don’t have to pay full-price for them. From March 18 to 20, The Off Price Show will be held at the Oakridge Pavilion inside the Oakridge Business Park. This roving sale will feature brands like Mango, Adidas, Hellolulu, Tommy Hilfiger Eyewear, Chocolate Clothing, and a whole lot more at up to 80% off.

From March 1 to April 3, Starmobile is having a “March Madness Sale” where techies can save up to PhP4,500 on their Knight and UP line of phones. Junrex Cellphones is also marking down their LG phones. Worth mentioning is the LG G4 Stylus which is on sale from PhP11,990 to PhP9,990. Specifications like Gorilla glass screen and an octacore processor make this unit a steal.

Carbay.ph is running promo rates on Foton, Honda, and Mazda cars from March to April. They are selling them with down payments for as low as PhP79,000 and throwing in freebies like comprehensive insurance, chattel mortgage fees, LTO registration, and periodic maintenance service. Select models of Volkswagen cars are also offered at zero down payment until March 31.
