Aklan, including Boracay, are now reclassified by the national government from modified enhanced community quarantine (MECQ) to general community quarantine (GCQ) starting September 8 to 30, 2021. [1]. After the announcement that
Boracay is back to GCQ, Aklan Governor Florencio Miraflores ordered to ease restrictions and to reopen the island of Boracay to domestic tourists anew formally. [2].
Under GCQ, business establishments that are allowed to operate 100% are the public and private hospitals, health emergency and frontline services, industries involved in agriculture, logistics services providers, essential and priority construction projects, companies that manufacture steelworks and spare parts, essential retails trade and service establishments, public and private financial service providers, business process outsourcing establishments (BPO), public and transport providers that are approved by the Department of Transportation (DOTr), media establishments, dental rehabilitation, vet clinics, banks and money transfer establishments, water supply and janitorial services, energy sector, telecommunication companies, aviation sector, funeral and embalming services, security personnel licensed by the PNP, printing establishments authorized by BIR, establishments engaged in the maintenance of machines and motorized vehicles, lawyers, other establishments necessary for buying and selling goods via online, driving schools, outdoor sports, and outdoor tourist attractions and destinations.
All establishments that run 100% are allowed to open from 6:00 AM until 7:00 PM. However, the public and private hospitals, pharmacies and drugstores, health emergency and frontline services, media establishments, funeral and embalming services, and security personnel licensed by the Philippine National Police (PNP) office can operate beyond 7:00 PM.
Boracay may accept hotel bookings given that the establishment operates only up to 30% of the maximum venue capacity and guests are from the same household. Indoor dining shall only be allowed at 30% seating capacity, and
alfresco dining is permitted up to 50% seating capacity. Indoor activities such as contact sports, scrimmages, gym or other indoor leisure centers and facilities like indoor swimming are allowed to operate.
The operating hours of Boracay Island shall be until 10:00 PM, while the curfew takes effect from 10:00 PM until 4:00 AM.
