Fun fact: Boracay has two groups of people that can be considered locals. One is the “tumandok” or families that were original island settlers. The other is those originating from the other towns of Aklan who have lived in Boracay for decades already. While many eateries serve international cuisines, many restaurants in Boracay serve Filipino dishes that withstood the test of time and competition.

First on our list of places to eat in Boracay that serve Filipino dishes does not need a fancy location to attract customers. The smell of food coming from Smoke Restaurant is already enough to invite people to come in and eat. It is because their food is cooked just in front of their guests.

This restaurant in Boracay is along the D’Mall Market and has limited seats. Amongst the places to eat in Boracay, their sizzling bulalo (beef dish made from beef shanks and bone marrow) and beef salpicao are also among their bestsellers. Vegetarians have tofu sisig (a dish usually made from pig’s head and chicken liver) and other stir-fried veggies. Since this is one of the known places to eat in Boracay, you should come early to savor their Filipino dishes. They also serve Thai rice bowls. The Khao Pad rice bowls, a tasty dish with shrimp, are one of their bestsellers.

How to get to Smoke Resto: Take a tricycle from Cagban Port and get off at Crafts Supermarket in Station 2. After that, walk for about two minutes to the restaurant. If you’re coming from Caticlan Airport, travel time is about 30 minutes.


2. Jasper’s Tapsilugan and Restaurant

Next on our list of places to eat in Boracay is more than 20 years in business; Jasper’s Tapsilugan and Restaurant has proven its track record for excellent service. This restaurant in Boracay, serving local Filipino dishes, is for locals and tourists looking for budget-friendly but filling meals. Each day, the restaurants serve about 15 dishes. The guests can then select from any Filipino dishes served on that day.

Jasper Rice is among their most popular dish, a fried meal with vegetables and meat. They also have their pansit bilao (stir-fried noodle dish in a native woven tray) for large groups. One big bilao can serve up to 10 people. They also have small bilao for five people. If you’re finding places to eat in Boracay with foods perfect for snacking, this is your place! Our third spot on the list of places to eat in Boracay is also owned by the owners of Jony’s Beach Resort, the Mayas Filipino and Mexican Cuisine. The beachfront restaurant in Boracay is known for serving Filipino dishes with a modern twist and Mexican classics. The restaurant is likewise famous for its mouth-watering lechon kawali (crispy pork belly cooked in a skillet).

Whenever you find places to eat in Boracay that serve Mexican favorites such as tacos, grilled chicken quesadilla, burritos, and fajitas, Mayas Filipino and Mexican Cuisine is a must-try restaurant. Its beachfront location is also a perfect spot for a sunset cocktail. During happy hour which starts at sunset, you can also get their cocktails like mojitos and margaritas for the price of one. Start your dinner early to catch the sunset at the beachfront.

Cooking service restaurants like Plato D’Boracay charges seafood and other meats on a “per kilo” basis.

Plato D'Boracay Resto used to be one of the places to eat in Boracay and the biggest paluto or cooking service restaurant at D'Talipapa Seafood Market that serves Filipino dishes. However, a big fire engulfed the area, which included Plato D'Boracay in 2017. Despite the tragedy, Plato D'Boracay did not disappear. The restaurant continued serving its customers at D'Mall market.

Customers buy their choice of seafood and meat dishes, and they can be cooked right in this restaurant in Boracay in whichever way the customers would like. Their buttered shrimps, prawn sinigang (sour soup), and grilled clams are among their most popular.

Tip: you can buy meat, seafood, and veggies at D’Mall Market for a lower price. Then have it cooked at the paluto restaurant.

How to get to Plato D'Boracay Resto: Take a tricycle from Cagban Port, get off at Crafts Supermarket in Station 2, and walk for about three minutes along D’Mall Market. If you’re coming from Caticlan Airport, the travel time is about 30 to 40 minutes.
