Xiamen Airlines reopen direct flight to Kalibo
More tourists from China can be expected in Boracay as Xiamen Airlines has reopened its direct flight between Fuzhou City and the capital town of Kalibo last April 2 [2]. With this development, it is expected that Chinese tourist arrival will continue to soar higher. China already holds the most number of visitors in Boracay overtaking South Koreans. Due to this, more Chinese restaurants started to open on the island after the closure. Other airlines including AirAsia and Philippine Airlines also have direct flights to and from China.
More rooms made available for tourists
More rooms will be available for the tourists of Boracay. In the latest advisory of the Department of Tourism (DOT), there are already 339 accommodation establishments that have complied with the government requirements [3]. All these compliant hotels and resorts offer a total of 12,083 rooms already. Meanwhile, authorities continue to remind the public to only book compliant establishments. The task force in charge of the rehabilitation of the island continues to crackdown against non-compliant establishments. Tourists are also reminded to secure their booking details before traveling to avoid long lines at the port.
