Weather: Expect thunderstorms
The first two days in Iloilo is sunny although there will be morning showers beginning Monday onwards. Thunderstorms are expected amidst a temperature which ranges from 30 ˚C to 38 ˚C.
Given this weather condition, tourists and locals are advised to stay dry by carrying an umbrella wherever they may go. Those who don’t want to be bothered by the ever-changing weather situation may just opt to explore the malls of Iloilo City.
Traffic News: Road closure due to overpass demolition
The overpass on Bonifacio Drive will be demolished, and this entails road closure of the area fronting the Department of Tourism Regional Office-VI. This will also affect those who have transactions with the Iloilo Provincial Capitol. Hopeful to secure the ordinance from the city council, the provincial government plans to carry out the demolition from April 27 up to April 29. Vehicles passing through this route may use the street at the back of the Iloilo Provincial Capitol.

Iloilo prepares for tourists
Since the Philippines’ premier tourist destination, Boracay, has stopped accepting tourists last April 26, the provincial and city governments of Iloilo are preparing hotels and establishments to cater to the guests who are supposed to go to Boracay. As such, new resorts and hotels have opened, facilities and buildings are renovated, and tourist destinations are developed.
Iloilo Esplanade project realigned to protect mangroves
Some mangroves will be affected by the development of the Iloilo Esplanade along the Iloilo River. To address this, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) will realign parts of the project in order to preserve the mangroves affected by the original layout. The project is built to protect the Iloilo River and showcase its serene view while also promoting active lifestyle.
Passed Ordinance and Iloilo Barangay Election News 2018: Gun ban enforced
In preparation for the May 14 synchronized barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan (Youth Council) elections, a gun ban was passed. Included in the ban is bringing deadly pointed objects like knives. The ban will last from April 14 to May 21.
