News about the possible closure of Boracay has been making the rounds online and in the media. While President Rodrigo Duterte is yet to give his final decision on the matter, Boracay remains open for tourists. Though the possible closure of the island is left hanging, this week is still a good time to visit Boracay due to the sunny days in the forecast. It is also a great time to try fun-filled water sports activities and thirst-quenching refreshments.
Hot weather
For the second week of March, hot weather is expected at a maximum temperature of 30°C and minimum temperature of 27°C. It will be sunny throughout the week with stray thunderstorms on some days. With the heat, it is advisable to use sunscreen all the time or wear rash guards to prevent sunburns. Drink more water too to avoid dehydration. Bringing your own water bottle is advisable. You can just refill it at your own hotel or in restaurants. This way, you are helping reduce trash generated on the island.
Boracay remains open
Amid negative reports about the place, a number of tourists still choose to
travel to Boracay for the summer. There is still a heavy influx of tourists coming to the island. Heavy traffic can be expected in major streets due to the ongoing cleanup of the drainage and sewage system. A number of structures were also ordered to be demolished as part of the cleanup efforts of the local government and national agencies. Owners of establishments along the beachfront and on the main road were also issued notices of violation and were asked to comply to avoid closure of their business.
