The tourism and economy of Iloilo City is undeniably booming. The City of Love has been getting more and more attention internationally.

For instance, the Philippine Information Agency recently reported that five meetings of the Association of Southeast Asian Nation (ASEAN) in 2017 will be hosted by the city. According to the City Tourism and Development Office, the National Organizing Council (NOC) has already scheduled meetings and ocular visits in the city to determine possible arrangements with airport facilities, hotel accommodation, conference venues, and tourist spots. High-level delegates and senior ministers of the ASEAN member countries will be attending the said meetings.

The intersection of Jalandoni and Delgado Streets in the city proper is now passable. Meanwhile, the street that separates the University of Iloilo and Iloilo Central Market is still under construction.

Motorists going to Mandurriao district may experience heavy traffic. This is because aside from the area being a shopping center, there are also road constructions going on. Areas such as Iloilo Business Park, Carpenter Bridge, San Rafael, Mandurriao, as well as Mandurriao Plaza are also heavily congested.

Alternative routes are being studied by the city planning and development office to minimize traffic congestion within Iloilo. This is in an effort to make it easy for tourists and residents to go around the city.
