Room rates in Boracay increase by at least 30 percent during special holidays, which is considered as the super peak season in the island. However, before the Holy Week period next week, discounted room rates are still available in these Boracay resorts.

EVENTS AND ACTIVITIES
The last day and awarding for the “Local Beach Volleyball Open” happens on March 13 at the beachfront of Boracay Star in Station 3, White Beach. Locals and tourists can play either in 4 on 4 or in 2 on 2 tournament categories. Registration is PhP500 per player.

The “Yoga Kite and Windsurf Camp 4” is also happening this week which will run until March 26. The camp includes an accommodation at Reef Retreat, daily yoga classes, and an option between windsurfing or kitesurfing course with equipment. Reef Retreat is located in Bulabog Beach. The camp will end with a sunset cruise and BBQ lunch for participants.

WEATHER
Abundant sunshine and a temperature at an average of 30°C is expected the entire week.
FRUITS IN SEASON
With the hot weather, vendors selling thirst quenching fruits are plenty at the beachfront. Fresh buko is sold at PhP60 up to PhP110. It is cheaper when you buy fruits from local vendors than in restaurants.

Watermelon is sold at PhP30 per kilo or PhP30 per slice, same with pineapples. Mangoes are also in season and sold at PhP35 to PhP40 per piece while Indian Mangoes are sold at 3 pieces for PhP50.

MUST-TRY THIS WEEK
Lawiswis Organics situated at D’Mall Market in Station 2 makes colorful healthy juices from a mixture of different organic vegetables and fruits. They also have Kombutcha tea, a probiotic beverage made from tea, sugar, yeast, and bacteria.

A 500 mL bottle of each healthy juice or tea is sold at PhP400, but a PhP100 discount is given to costumers who bring their own containers. Juice or tea 12 oz cups are also available for PhP120 each.
