Baguio records no COVID-19 deaths for almost a month
Part of the reasons why
Baguio City is under Alert Level 1 is because of the lesser cases of COVID-19 deaths in the area for almost a month.
As of April 18, 2022, Baguio City’s Public Information Office said there haven't been any COVID-19 deaths for 27 days. Since the pandemic’s beginning, Baguio City has recorded 830 COVID-19 deaths. The Baguio City health officials noted that the lesser deaths are due to the city’s high vaccination rate [2].
As of April 13 indicate that 281,125 individuals received a full dose, which is slightly higher than the initial targeted
vaccination population of 281,000.
Single-use plastics are banned in Ilocos medical facilities.
All single-use plastics are now banned in all Department of Health’s (DOH) medical facilities across the Ilocos region [3]. The
medical facilities that will lessen their plastic waste include DOH regional and provincial officers, Philippine Health Insurance Corp., Philippine Institute of Traditional Alternative Health Care, and other DOH-attached agencies.
The leading cause for this ban on single-use plastic is the plastic waste’s long decomposing period which is harmful to the environment. The ban hopes to lessen the
plastic waste produced in Ilocos medical facilities. The single-use plastic wastes include spoons, forks, sando bags, drinking bottles, cups, straws, knives, and drink stirrers.
