Know what to do when you lose your vaccination card!

Since the pandemic began, vaccination cards have become an essential part of our lives: they can be used to enter establishments as proof of your vaccination status. Vaccine cardholders can also get discounts in selected restaurants and shops.

Public transportation in some areas has begun a “no vaccination, no ride” policy as well. And if you’re someone who wants to travel to other regions, vaccine cards are required to enter.

Unfortunately, like most items in your life, vaccine cards can also get lost if you are not careful. In case you lose your vaccine card, what can you do? Read on below!

Coordinate with your LGU

If you have no photo of your vaccine card as proof, you can head to the local government unit (LGU) of your area to verify your record. Once verified, the LGU can issue a new vaccination card. To make sure, check if your LGU requires prior reservation before heading to the vaccination site.

If you got vaccinated in a mass vaccination site, you might reach out to the Department of Health (DOH) or management of the vaccination site to get info.

Sign up via VaxCertPH

If you remember your vaccination details and have a photo of your lost vaccine card, you can sign up for VaxCertPH if you need a vaccine card for travel. You can sign up through https://vaxcert.doh.gov.ph. You will need to fill out the information similar to those on your lost vaccine card, including your details, then upload the photo of your lost vaccine card and a valid ID.

Wait for the confirmation of your digital vaccine card’s validity. It will take at least 14 days after registration. A unique QR code will be given thru VaxCertPH once successful.

How to keep your vaccination card safe

The known saying, prevention is better than cure, is true in many circumstances—including taking care of your vaccine card. If you still have your card and are cautious about its condition, there are ways to keep it safe from damage and being lost.

For one, you can take a clear picture of your vaccination card—front and back—to have digital proof you can carry on your phone whenever you’re traveling. In addition to this, never share the pic of your vaccination card on social media to avoid sharing your vital information with potential scammers.

If the digital version is not enough, you can also opt for an extra photocopy of your vaccination card. Lastly, if you have completed your vaccine, cover your vaccination card thru lamination or with a sturdy card sleeve.
