When one says “Baguio City,” it is impossible not to think about the delicacies the province has to offer: the famous ube jam from Good Shepherd, pasalubongs such as lengua de gato and chocolate flakes, and of course, Baguio’s popular strawberries. The strawberries of the province are as fresh as they are sweet, and they can be mixed with any kind of food that you can think of: taho, ice cream, and even shortcakes!
When talking about cakes, one cannot miss the dainty shop along Session Road that offers the
best strawberry shortcake ever baked:
Vizco’s Restaurant and Cake Shop. The cake shop’s strawberry shortcake is twice as special, for it is paired with strawberries that are fresh out of Benguet’s farm. With the country still grappling with the COVID-19 pandemic, Baguio closed its doors temporarily to curb the spread of the disease. Lucky for you, this won’t stop
Vizco’s Restaurant and Cake Shop from delivering the goodness of their strawberry shortcake straight to your doorstep! Wondering how you can order? Keep reading!
The Best of Baguio Now Within Arm’s Reach
Known for its best-selling strawberry shortcake, Vizco’s Restaurant and Cake Shop in Baguio City started in 2004 when the family of owner Jackie Vizcocho Dizon got a space on Session Road. Jackie was only fresh out of culinary school when she produced the perfect recipe for the shortcake, giving birth to the restaurant’s signature pastry. Vizco’s strawberry shortcake consists of a light chiffon cake hugged by whipped cream and topped with a crown of fresh, plump sliced strawberries.
The resto only gets strawberries from Cordilleran farmers in Benguet to assure that only fresh ones are used in their shortcake. So when Baguio City had to close down its doors for tourists due to the pandemic, it affected not only the resto but the livelihood of the Cordilleran farmers as well. In an effort to help the farmers keep making revenue, Quezon City-based shop Love, Strawberry opened a direct delivery service that offers various items from Vizco’s, including the all-time favorite strawberry shortcake.
How To Order
Love, Strawberry delivers batches of cakes on a weekly basis.
