Last August 17, President Rodrigo Duterte announced the updated community
quarantine guidelines and statuses. Specific areas including NCR, Bulacan, Cavite, Laguna, Rizal, Nueva Ecija, Batangas, Quezon, Iloilo City, Cebu City, Lapu-Lapu City, Mandaue City, Talisay, and the municipalities of Minglanilla and Consolacion were placed under the general community quarantine or GCQ. The rest of the country, including Baguio, Ilocos Norte, and Ilocos Sur, were placed under modified general community quarantine or
MGCQ. In line with this, Baguio City implements a temporary transport scheme and comes up with plans to establish more markets. Benguet province, meanwhile, opens up a new quarantine facility.
Quarantine Updates: Baguio remains under MGCQ, with granular lockdowns on selected areas
The City of Baguio remains under modified general community quarantine as per the announcement of President Duterte last August 17. However, granular lockdown was implemented by Baguio City Mayor Benjamin Magalong in specific areas in the city [1,2, & 3]. According to Memorandum No. 192, the following places are under granular lockdown: Molave Drive, Purok 3, Barangay Asin Road and Purok 5, Barangay Padre Burgos. Meanwhile, as per Memorandum No. 194, the granular lockdown in these areas will be immediately lifted: Hamada Compound, Barangay MRR-Queen of Peace and Purok 7, Barangay New Lucban.
Lastly, lockdown orders over these areas will be lifted immediately through Memorandum No. 193:
1. Barangay Bakakeng Central
2. Barangay Honeymoon Holyghost
3. Barangay Lower General Luna
4. Barangay Poliwes
Transportation News: Baguio announces temporary transport scheme
Baguio Traffic and Transport Technical Working Group proposed a temporary transportation scheme that is in effect from August 16 until August 31, 2020. The temporary transport scheme includes guidelines on private vehicles and motorcycles and their corresponding number coding scheme, public utility jeepneys, cargo and delivery trucks, taxis, and bicycles. Benguet opened Quarantine Facility II
The province of La Trinidad, Benguet opened another provincial quarantine facility in Barangay Wangal. City Governor Melchor Diclas, along with the 13 mayors, announced the opening of the said facility last August 14, 2020. This comes at a crucial moment, especially now that the Benguet General Hospital reached its full capacity. The province used the Benguet Training Center as triage center and temporary quarantine facility for locally stranded individuals and returning OFWs. As of Thursday, Benguet has already recorded a total of 122 confirmed COVID-19 cases, with 53 active cases, 68 recoveries, and 1 death. [6]
