With a week remaining before Christmas, many people are now rushing to buy stuff to prepare for the season. However, since showers and thunderstorms will develop this week, you may opt to stay home and enjoy online shopping instead. Meanwhile, Bacolodnons will be glad to know that solar street lights will be installed at the Circumferential Road of Bacolod-Silay Airport. The weather can’t stop Christmas, as the yuletide vibe will be felt at the Bacolod City Plaza thanks to “Paskwa sa Plaza,” an event that will run from December 3 to January 6, 2020. Read on for the details of these Bacolod travel updates.
Weather Advisory: Fair weather with some rains and thunderstorms
Bacolod City will experience morning showers at the start of the week. The sun will shine by Wednesday, allowing you to go around the city’s downtown area for Christmas shopping. However, showers and thunderstorms will occur from Friday until Saturday. Moreover, the weekend is expected to be more cloudy and rainy, not ideal for road trips and outdoor travel. The expected temperature will range from 29 °C to 31 °C [1].
Traffic News: Solar street lights to be installed in Circumferential Road
It’s been a while since the street lights going to Silay Airport have been shut off. As such, Congressman Greg Gasataya pushed for the installation of solar-powered light emitting diode (LED) streetlights along the Circumferential Road of Bacolod-Silay Airport to provide safety to the riding public and to decrease the incidence of criminal acts.
He added that the budget for the installation has already been requested from the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) [2]. Since the lights can be powered by the sun’s heat energy, they are energy and cost efficient.
Travel Update: Christmas feels in Bacolod City Plaza
Mayor Evelio Leonardia has issued an executive order (EO) establishing the “Paskwa sa Plaza,” a Christmas event place that will host different kinds of holiday activities. The event at the public plaza will run from December 3 to January 6, 2020.
Through the EO, a committee was created to recommend guidelines and oversee the smooth and orderly operations of the activity. Expected events within “Paskwa sa Plaza” are Christmas performances, display and selling of local products as well as wares of the marginalized vendors, and other activities as recommended.
