Read on for the full details of these Bacolod travel updates.
Weather Advisory: Clouds and thunderstorms for this week’s weather
This week’s weather will be rainy with thunderstorms around. A little bit of sun will smile in the morning of Wednesday, November 27, but the weather will turn cloudy later in the day. Events and other city happenings might be held indoors because of wet weather. For family bonding on weekend, try dining in to the new restaurants in the city instead of going outdoors to avoid getting wet from the rain. This week’s temperature will range from 28 °C to 32 °C [1].
Traffic News: Center island along shopping area will remain
Councilor Carlos Jose Lopez, the chairperson of the City Council Committee on Environment, stated that the center island island along the shopping area in Bacolod City will no longer be removed [2]. This was discussed during the public hearing attended by the City Engineer’s Office (CEO) and the City Planning and Development Office (CPDO) who recommended that the island, as well as some trees in the area, remain.
Though the City Government agreed not to remove the center island, they discussed cutting down nine trees that are damaging the roads. Lopez stressed that only two percent of the trees will be removed along the area. He added that the CEO will beautify the area and plant some trees that will not damage the roads.
Travel update: Lantawan View gains more visitors
More and more tourist spots have been discovered in the province of Negros, one of which is Lantawan View located in the upland Barangay of Guimbalaon, Silay City. Since Lantawan View is located in a remote area, many people did not know where it was until it has been introduced to the public. The paved highway leading to this attraction has also helped tourists find it [3].
Its beautiful scenery and the breathtaking view of the rolling green hills are some of its main draws. Mountain ranges and rivers can also be easily seen from the area. The place also features hidden caves which, according to natives, served as hiding places of Japanese during World War II.
