In addition, the city government has also made more initiatives to promote the products of Negros. Meanwhile, people are now getting ready to experience Magikland’s exciting rides. For the complete travel updates on Bacolod this week, read on.

Weather Advisory: Sunny days with afternoon showers and thunderstorms

After last week’s gloomy and rainy weather, the sun will finally bring smiles to Bacolodnons. However, there will still be days when stray thunderstorms might develop. Shower spots and a few thunderstorms in the afternoons will begin in the middle of the week and will continue until the weekend. The best time to explore the city this coming weekend is on Saturday morning, when sunshine is expected. This week’s temperature will range from 31°C to 33 °C [1].

Traffic News: Ground breaking of Negros road project done

Last September 11, the ground breaking ceremony of the 22-kilometer farm to the market road connecting Barangays Hilaitan and Trinidad of Guihulngan City was held. Provincial Governor Roel Degamo and some city officials spearheaded the ceremony. This access road will also connect Guihulngan, Negros Oriental and Moises Padilla, Negros Occidental.

The province allotted PhP370 million for the project, which will directly benefit a population of at least 12,000 of the 2 barangays [2]. Residents in remote areas will no longer have a hard time getting their basic needs from the city proper. With this development, travelling from Negros Occidental to Negros Oriental is also expected to be faster.

Early this year, AirAsia announced that they will operate in Bacolod-Silay Airport, and it’s happening soon! The CEO added that AirAsia Philippines aims to continue growing the connectivity in the country. Bacolod is the 11th domestic destination of the said airline.

New site allocated to enhance promotion of Negros products

The provincial government allocated the provision of an area for the Association of Negros Producers’ (ANP) showroom. The site is next to the Negros Forest Park at the South Capitol Road in Bacolod City [4].

Provincial Administrator Rayfrando Diaz said that Negros Forest Park is home to wildlife endemic to Negros. The ANP showroom will showcase Negros products. He added that the memorandum of agreement is being drawn up and it will state that ANP will have the right to a 50-year use of the site to promote Negros products.

More rides in Magikland are coming

Magikland, Negros’ first outdoor theme park, welcomed the arrival of 15 bumper cars, one of the latest rides at the attraction. These rides were sourced from suppliers in Italy and across Asia [5]. Aton Land President Reynaldo Bantug confirmed that the featured rides will include “Magic Bike,” “Happy Swing,” carousel, “Crazy Surf,” “Crazy Trail,” “Disk’O,” sky tower, and a 25-meter high Ferris wheel known as “The Silay Eye.”
