Bacolod, travel, things to do, weather

Expect wet weather and slippery roads this week in Bacolod City. A traffic rerouting scheme will also be conducted in the downtown area, but this doesn’t mean that the fare will increase. For the travelers to know, 2GO Supercat and Lakawon Island Resort and Spa just signed a memorandum of agreement (MOA) to partner and work together in boosting tourism in the province. Meanwhile, for the upcoming Masskara Festival this October, 14 Barangays in Bacolod City have confirmed to participate in the street dance competition. Read on for the full details!

Weather Advisory: Scattered showers and thunderstorms this week

A spell of rainy weather will remain this week in the City of Smiles. Gloomy skies covering the city will develop heavy rains with thunderstorms. These weather conditions will mostly happen in the afternoons. There will be days when rain may only be spots, but to keep you dry and safe while touring around and to avoid catching the flu, make sure to bring e an umbrella everywhere. This week’s temperature will be around 29°C to 32°C [1].

Traffic News: No fare increase in rerouting experiment

The Bacolod Traffic Authority Office (BTAO) clearly stated that the 60-day traffic experiment of southbound public utility jeepneys (PUJs) will not result to a fare increase [2]. Police Lieutenant Colonel Luisito Acebuche, head of BTAO, explained that jeepneys plying Punta Taytay, Sum-ag, Tangub, Singcang-Airport, and Magsungay with routes in downtown area will be affected by the rerouting scheme.

PUJs are also directed to proceed to South Capitol Road then turn left to Ayala Malls, turn left to San Juan Street, then turn right to Burgos Street going to the Public Transport Terminal upon reaching Gatuslao-Rizal Streets. Meanwhile, southbound passengers shall enter Ferero Street. Col. Acebuche added that during the traffic experiment, the current two-way street will become a one-way street.

Travel Update: A partnership to promote travel and tourism

2GO Supercat and Lakawon Island Resort and Spa signed a memorandum of agreement (MOA) to do business together in stimulating travel and tourism promotion of the province [3]. Representatives from both companies were Terrie Bernas-Abad, SFFC head and Nastacia Maria Gonzalez, owner and chief finance officer of Lakawon Island Resort and Spa.

The MOA covered the promotion feature for both parties 2GO Supercat and Lakawon Island Resort and Spa. Every Supercat and 2GO ticket presented in Lakawon gets an accommodation discount—15 percent during weekends and 20 percent during weekdays.

Passed Laws and Ordinance: More Bacolod Barangays participating in Masskara dance parade

Masskara Festival is fast approaching, so be ready to dance in the streets of Bacolod City this October! To put more excitement and colors in the festival, there will be 14 participating barangays joining the MassKara Dance Competition which will take place on October 7.

Barangays 3, 4, 5, 6, 12, 16, 32, 39, 40, Handumanan, Banago, Estefania, Bata, and Tangub confirmed to join the merry making street dance contest [4].
